SOURCE: Pontiac Bonneville(2000) oil pressure sending unit

The oil pressure sending unit is located behind the oil filter, Threaded into an aluminunm housing. It has wiring that plugs into the sending unit. The oil filter has to be removed and you will need a deep well socket and a 6 inch extension. Change the oil and the sending unit together.

Location of oil sending unit on 1990 ranger 2.9

Here's a link to your oil pressure switch, here's the part.As you can see there are 2 types, one for light and one for gauge.
  • When the oil pressure is either high or low it will either turn the oil light "on" in the dash or move the gauge to the extremes
  • Undetected high or low oil pressure can result in internal engine damage and/or gasket leakage

96 deVille. Think the oil pressure sending unit is leaking. How do you remove. Mine is located above the AC pressure lines and I can't reach.

Hello: The oil pressure sending unit is located on the oil filter adapter, which is behind the lower front engine mount. It is best to get a deep oil pressure socket to do the task. Check with Advance Auto, Auto Zone, O'Reilly, or NAPA for the socket.

Oil pressure gauge reads zero

THE SENDING UNIT WILL BE LOCATED DOWN BY THE OIL FILTER. YOU PROBABLY HAVE AN ELECTRIC PRESSURE SENSOR. THERE WILL BE ONE WIRE CONNECTED TO IT. THE OIL PRESSURE IS USUALLY BY THE OIL FILTER AS THIS IS WHERE THE PRESSURE IS GENERATED FROM THE OIL PUMP. THEY CAN BE HARD TO ACCESS ON SOME ENGINES DUE TO LACK OF SPACE. HERE IS ANOTHER TIP. INVEST IN AN OIL PRESSURE SENSOR SOCKET. THEY ARE A SPECIALTY TOOL AND CAN SAVE YOU SOME TIME IF YOU ARE NOT MECHANICALLY INCLINED. GOOD LUCK
