Question about Hummer H2
I have a 2005 H2 Hummer and recently took it on a medium range trip (250 miles round trip). It drove fine going there but when I returned, I noticed the car jumping noticeably when it slowed down. The engine light came on and after completing my trip without incident I parked the car. About an hour later, I started the H2 and it wouldn't move forward at all and backwards just a little. This was in *any* gear. A friend told me it "might be empty of transmission fluid". Any ideas on this? Thanks.

I would guess that something inside of the transmission has failed and there is no longer a mechanical connection between the motor and the drive axles regardless of what gear you attempt to move in.[sheared splines, broken planetary, etc.] Often when this happens you won't hear any kind of noise because of the failed parts being inside the transmission case...instead the car just won't go anymore. You could have a CV drive axle joint that has failed but generally they will make some noticable rattling or grinding noise as they churn away when you try to go forward or reverse. If something has failed inside of the transmission then the transmission will need to be removed and repaired. It if is just a drive axle joint that has failed then that can be replaced without doing anything to the transmission. Hope this helps and good luck!
