SOURCE: program second key fob

Your key can only be programed at the dealer. They have to use a scan tool and a unique id code that they get from the factory. It is done this way to help insure that the vehicle is less likely to be stolden.

SOURCE: reprogram 2005 Dodge Durango key fob

Go to the dealer. It is the only way, they have to use a computer. Changing the battery doesn't make it lose it's program though. You most likely broke the battery hold down. This is the most common thing I see at my shop. If the key still starts the vehicle, you now have a bad key fob. If not, you may be able to get it reprogrammed.

SOURCE: HOW TO PROGRAM A FOBIK

your car came with 2 fobiks from the factory, if you bought a third one from Chrysler, read on, insert the first one in the win module, (key hole), and turn ignition to on only, watch your sentry red light to come on, wait till it goes out, you have ten seconds to insert the second one, red light will come on and start to blink, you have ten seconds to insert the third one , turn it to on and watch the red light to blink and once it stops and a chime will sound, the third fobik is now programed. If you only have one fobik, lost the other, your out of luck, you will have to visit a Chysler dealer. GOOD LUCK, RDJRP

Can I program my replacement fob key without going to the dealer if I don't have an extra key

there are many shops who can program your key and much more easier if you have a working fob key already. If not it is good to take your car to the shop with the new fob key and they will do it for you,I believe with less money than the dealer. Ask and try it.

1996 dodge grand caravan le key fob doesn't work, batteries are good. Can I need to sync it or reset it?

I put a new battery in the key fob for a 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan, and, at first, it still didn't work. Took it to the Dodge Dealer, who said the fob was dead. NOT SO! My husband put a little piece of cardboard on top of the battery so the battery contact was improved, and the fob works fine now.
