Is it the alternator?

Sounds like a charging system problem. The engine runs off of the alternator but if it is not charging the battery properly the battery will be drained until I engine will no longer run. You need to get the vehicle to a repair shop to have the battery and charging system check for defects

Alternator problem

Easy way to check with a voltmeter. Check battery voltage on the battery terminals with key off, engine off, and then check voltage with engine running.
Engine off, a good battery should have voltage between 12.6 volts and 12.9 volts. With engine running, battery voltage should be a minimum of 13.5 volts, somewhere between 13.5 and 14.5 volts. This would indicate the alternator is good and is charging the battery. If voltage is less than 13.5 volts, if it only shows same volts as when not running, the alternator is not working right. Take it off and have tested for free at a parts store. It could be a bad alternator or it could be that the wiring between alternator and battery has a problem. If alternator tests good, start looking into the connections between alternator and battery.
Does your battery or alternator light stay on when engine is running? This would indicate a charging system problem. Time for the voltmeter test.

Brake and battery light on when car is running

if you have new battery problem could be either alternator drive belt slipping need adjustment or replacement or alternator could be faulty.but check alternator fuse and make sure battery cables clean if look badly corroded replace them.if all is good remove alternator any auto parts stores will check it for free or you can use a digital volt meter.with engine running take volt meter check alternator voltage out put at the battery with engine running volts at the battery should be 13.5 - 14.5 volts.

SOUND LIKE ALTERNATOR FAULTY.HAVE VECHICLE BATTERY CHARGED OR JUMPED STARTED.WITH ENGINE RUNNING CHECK BATTERY VOLTAGE WITH ENGINE RUNNING SHOULD BE 13.5 - 14.5 VOLTS. IF NOT ALTERNATOR VOLTAGE REGULATOR FAILED.BUT FIRST CHECK ALTERNATOR FUSE AND CHECK ALTERNATOR BATTERY FEED WIRE AND VOLTAGE REGULATOR WIRES FOR DAMAGE OR LOOSE CONNECTION.WHEN YOU TAKE OLD ALTERNATOR TO AUTO PARTS STORE LET THEM TEST ALTERNATOR FIRST.MAKE SURE YOU DONT HAVE ELECTRICAL WIRING PROBLEMS IN VECHICLE.

New battery. abs, battery and service engine lights come on. all headlights and tails flicker and car dies and wont start. jump it let it warm up and doesnt do it for awhile. then at some point it does it...

These are all signs of a bad alternator. The car is running off of only the battery. The alternator charges the battery and keeps the car running. When the alternator quits charging the car will run fine until the battery dies. Then you can jump the battery and charge it, and the car will run fine until all of the electronics and lights run the battery down again.

We have replaced battery in car while driving and then comming to a stop it shuts off. Put in park then restart it runs stop again it stops again. What could this be? Car was running fine before.

Check your alternator. Get a Voltmeter and test voltage at the battery with the vehicle running. It should be about 13 or 13.5 volts. Then check it at the alternator. It will be the red cable at the back of the alternator (the side not by the belt) It should be 13 or 13.5 volts. If the battery reads less than 13 then check the alternator. If both readings are low but close i.e. battery=11.4 and alternator=12.5 then the alternator needs replacement. However if your readings are alternator 13.3 and battery 11.5 then you need a battery cable between the alternator and battery. Hope this helps.

Alternaor not charging. replaced alternator still

to check alternator, undo batt cable while car is running if car dies alternator is bad.
replace alternator (some are bad from factory)
cars dont need battery to run just to start.
