Check your fuse and if not fuse then most likely a grounding wire has become unattached, or perhaps a wiring harness has become disengaged at a coupling.

2003 Toyota Avalon xls model all lights and dials on instrument panel go off and engine stops when I go over bumps. I wait 2 minutes and car starts up again and runs fine until I go over bumps again.

The very first thing I would check would be if the battery cables are clean and tight. After that I'd lean towards a bad ignition switch. Do you have a ton of keys on your keyring? wiggle your key while its on to see if you can recreate the problem.

Temp gauge on instrument panel not working

No, it's not related. Cruise system is entirely a separate circuit. More complex, too. It requires a vacuum signal, and the electrical circuit is complicated, and the steering wheel buttons add an extra layer of concern. I don't pretend to understand beyond what a Haynes repair manual would give. The cost to fix it at dealer rates may outweigh it's worth to you. If mine gave up on my '92 buick, I wouldn't be inclined to fix it. -2nd car anyway, and AC hasn't worked for years. Does your horn still work? If it does, probably the buttons for the cruise are ok too. The problem could be something very simple- it just takes diagnosing.

Myself I'd want a second opinion about the temperature gauge. I Don't know how they could know that without looking at the car first, and while it could be with the cluster, usually such problems with the gauge not reading right, or stuck in one place is a problem with the sending unit on the engine or the wire or wires to it. And that is much less expensive than taking out the cluster.

Temp gauge on hot even though car is not overheating

Have you checked the temp sensor ? It could be faulty or there could be a wiring problem back to the gauge. Low coolant can cause an air pocket inside the system too.

Trying to locate electrical junction to test fuel level sensor

Fuel Level Indication System The fuel level indication system is a magnetic gauge system. It consists of a magnetic fuel gauge (9280) mounted in the instrument cluster (10849) and a sending unit located in the fuel tank (9002) with an instrument cluster gauge amplifier (10E849) in series between the two. No instrument voltage regulator is used with this system. Fuel Gauge
The magnetic gauge movement consists of three primary coils, one of which is wound at a 90-degree angle to the other two. The coils form a magnetic field which varies in direction according to the variable resistance of the sender unit which is connected between two of them. A primary magnet, to which a shaft and pointer are attached, rotates to align to this primary field, resulting in pointer position. The bobbin/coil assembly is pressed into a metal housing which has two holes for dial mounting. There is no adjustment, calibration or maintenance required for these gauges. The instrument cluster amplifier is calibrated to the fuel gauge. The instrument cluster amplifier and fuel gauge must be replaced as a system. Instrument Cluster Gauge Amplifier/Check Gauge Module
The instrument cluster gauge amplifier electrically averages fuel sender readings so the fuel gauge displays actual fuel level and not fluctuations due to sloshing in fuel tank. The instrument cluster gauge amplifier is a small printed circuit board which latches into a pocket on the back of the instrument cluster. The electrical connections for ignition, ground, input from fuel sender and output to fuel gauge are made through a spring-type connector on the instrument cluster gauge amplifier to the instrument cluster printed circuit (10K843) on the instrument cluster. There are no provisions for calibration or adjustment of the instrument cluster gauge amplifier.
Fuel Sending Unit
The fuel sending unit consists of a variable screened resistor made up of a ceramic substrate. It is controlled by the action of an attached float in the fuel tank. When the fuel level is low, resistance in the sending unit is low. When the fuel level is high, the resistance in the sending unit is high. As the float moves from empty to full, the resistance will gradually and continuously increase. f9e3b50.gif

1999 Oldsmobile Alero Gauge problem

Could be lose connection on the back of the instrument cluster ,which means you would need to pull it out of the vehicle . Check pin fit to instrument cluster . for the B+ voltage suppy an ground connection's .
You said autozone - Tried to have auto zone diagnose from inside the car, came up with no codes. That's in the PCM - engine computer . There scan tool will not communicate with the instrument cluster ,which is also a computer in it's self. Need a factory scan tool to check instrument cluster.

Go to Step 2
Go to Instrument Cluster System Check
2
Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
With the scan tool select Instrument Panel Cluster, Special Functions, Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) gauges.
Perform the Speed Gauge Sweep Test.
Does the speedometer complete a full sweep when commanded?

Go to Powertrain On Board Diagnostic (OBD) System Check in Engine Controls
Go to Step 3
3
Replace the instrument cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .
Did you complete the repair?

With a scan tool select the instrument panel cluster, data display, gear status.
Monitor the gear range status.
Move the gear lever through each gear.
Does the scan tool display the correct gear selected?
Your best bet , take it to a qualified repair shop .

2001 Nissan Altima - Instrument panels gauges stop working

My 2001 Altima's instrument gauges die out after high-speed driving for 40-50 miles. Engen also loses power. Everything is back to normal when the car cools down. It turned out the ingition relay was bad. I could duplicate the problem right away by removing the relay. Actually, it is very easy to find the relay which is located above the fuse panel. The ignition relay is the bottom left one among the five relays there. It costs only $20.

Instrument panel gauges don't work

It sounds like it is an electrical short of some kind. There may be a lined computer type paper attached to the back side of your instrument panel that has some bad spots on it. you can call your local dealer and ask them if there is such a thing on your instrument cluster. i would suggest you take it to the Dealer to have them check out the problem, as they know best what would cause this problem, instead of you taking it to a local area shop that would not have the means or the knowledge as much as the dealer does about your car. I would also call the dealer and ask them for any recall problems with your car, as this may be a recall issue. You will need to give them your VIN number off your car, and then they can tell you of ANY recalls on your vehicle that are repaired for free of charge on parts and labor.
