Question about 1995 Volkswagen Cabrio

95 volkswagen cabrio clutch problems?

My car is having problems when I clutch. sometimes after letting off the clutch it is still reving high, even if I am barely giving it gas. Also it revs really high in 5th gear while I am on the freeway, and the rpms are showing around 3 but it sounds like it is not shifting. it seems to do ok when i am on the street and shift really easy but it lacks power.

The items to check are
Waste gate on the turbo Please email me the turbo model # Example: G3

EGR valve (stuck open or not moving freely) / need to remove carbon in EGR valve (if equipped in emission state / country) Clean EGR passage tube.
REMOVE ALL CARBON with WD-40 or PB Blaster

Check for vacuum leaks.
YOU MUST replace EGR base mount gasket.

Inspect timing belt tensioner.
Jumped timing / belt Check for burn / loose rubber particle on the bottom of the timing belt cover. Recheck timing marks / dots and make sure it's line up correctly.
You should change the water pump and T-belt at the same time. Check the service record for the last water pump change. Spin the water pump and check for free movement and leak.
====
After everything are check out then open the valve cover to do a valve adjustment. You should do valve adjustment every year or 12-18,000 miles.

Monitor for oil leaks from rear main seal, front seal and valmustgo_24.jpgmustgo_2.gifve cover.

Check for white smoke at the tailpipe after 10-15 minutes of warm up time to rule out head gasket damage.
check for cross mix of oil and coolant.
TDI should go well over 200,000 miles before major over-haul.

Standard or auto? If it is a standard how does your clutch fell good possible that you clutch is going. If auto I would check for the right amount of tranny oil. let me know what type og tranny you have.

SOURCE: 96 jetta gls problem shifting but only sometimes.

The clutch is made of three main items. #1 the cable, #2 the drive bearing, #3 the clutch spring. Check the following: your cable (pedal) need a way of 1/2 to 3/4 inch with no pressure, then you feel that the bearing connects with the clutch spring. If your have no open way, adjust the cable. If you have the proper way and you can feel the bearing connects with the clutch spring, press the pedal to the ground (engine running) and try to shift into 2. gear. Do this slowly to feel if the gear slips in. If that doesn't work, you need to replace the clutch set. Don't replace the Clutch spring alone, use a replacement set ( clutch disk, spring and bearing). there are a lot of part dealers out there how sell this. Good Luck!

SOURCE: 2001 Jetta won't shift into high gear/

In 2001 the "Check Engine" light might give information about what's going on with the transmission. You may want to have it checked by a shop before the transmission decides to die. It might be a simple fix.

check the abs rings are not touchin the sensor (buckled) IF you use replacement cv from other than a reputable joint rebuilder or new oem equipment the problem sounds like you haven't fixed the fault. clicking while turning at slow speeds relates to worn cv joints.

I drive a 2003 VW GTI. Theres a high rev sound after 3rd gear. Sounds like the engine is high reving and gets louder when the car gets faster even when shifting into a higher gear.

It needs rebuilding. The upper gear(s) are not locking in, so your likely wearing out your clutch when you drive fast. Get it rebuilt.

2000 Volkswagen Cabrio needs to be accelerated really hard before it goes reverse, and even then it goes very slowly. It drives well. I have checked the transmission fluid and it is good.

Best approach is to drain the tranny fluid and refill with new type F fluid. This fluid is great for restoring poor performance due to sticking clutch bands and valves.

Cant get my 95 cabrio's transmission out

Turn the transmission clock wise to posiotion the disfferencial at 10 o'clock. Pull it away from the engine as you lift the tail. You could take it out on your own, but need the help of another to put it on if you are not in a shop with all the tool. Hope this helps.
