Question about 2006 Pontiac G6
Went to the dealer . the radio was swapped out under warranty 15 months ago but the car is no longer under warranty. now its doing the same dam thing cds wont play and the display says cd changer error.dealer was less than helpful cant believe i need to install a third radio in this car in 3.5 years.someone please help
This sucks on multiple levels. If you have the 6 disk CD changer that is part of the Monsoon sound system upgrade, these radios are expensive as all hell to try and replace, not worth it. The really crappy part is that EVERYTHING is controlled through your radio; trip odometer, fuel economy, oil life, and a multitude of of other settings. If you dont mind not being able to see all that stuff, or see any warnings that may come up on the display, then by all means go for an aftermarket deck, but you will probably want to mount your factory radio in the trunk if you ever have to change a setting, or if you had to ever reset your anti theft if it ever becomes activated. The other fun part is that if you have the Monsoon system, wiring your aftermarket deck can be a pain in the *** as monsoon speakers run both a high +/- and a low +/- set of wires, that is why its very expensive to replace a monsoon speaker if you blow one as aftermarket manufacturers do not make them, and or are where you were before, spending alot of cash.
