You can get these by going to your toyota dealer and going to parts house and requesting a diagram and blow up photo of their car your looking at. They are the only ones I know of for sure that you can get it from without breaking any laws. If you call them and have a fax machine they would fax it to you.

The mechanic is most likely correct the vehicles have double intake as well as double exhaust valves which allows the motor to retain most of its power even if one of the valves burns out. However if an intake valve burns or fails there usually is a popping sound or misfire upon acceleration in this case you most likely have a burnt or worn exhaust valve, you have about six months to a year before the truck starts really misbehaving. Just address the side of the engine or head that has the burnt valve don't let them talk you into doing both cylinder heads you may go 250,000 to 300,00 miles before having to do a full valve job on the truck. These motors are fairly tough so just do the one head not both when the time comes.

there should be a white sticker on the radiator shield showing the routing

Either the battery in the remote is flat, or the remote need to be re-entered into your ECU. It seems the de-mobiliser is not de-activated for starting. That should happen when you use your remote. If the car's computer is not receiving signals from the remote, nothing much will happen, as you describe. You need to take the car and remote to your dealership and they will either program a new remote, or re-program your old one.
