Question about 1999 Chrysler 300M
When we went out this morning, the interior lights were flashing on and off and so were the parking lights and tail lights. We could lock the car, although the horn did not sound, and unlock the car with the key or the door locks. The horn was not sounding, nor did we hear anything during the night. The ignition would not turn over. It was as if the anti-theft mechanism had been activated, but we could not disarm it. Several hours later, the lights have stopped flashing, probably because the battery is now dead. We don't want to replace the battery, just to have this happen again. How can we disarm the anti-theft mechanism?
Some months ago I began starting the engine of my 2001 Chrysler 300M but turned it of before it really started "was sloppy with the key". The anti-theft system went on for some unknown reason. I disarmed it by disconnecting one of the battery connections under the hood with a wrench. I connected it again, the anti-theft system was off but the battery was dead. Battery was OK after recharging, I have had no trouble since then.
