Question about 2005 Nissan Altima
While filling up at a gas station I apparently bumped a black metal clip that was located inside the fuel door. It fell to the ground and I could not figure out how or where it had to be located. I guessed that it had something to do with holding the door shut. I closed the door without thinking and it locked. Now I can't open the door from inside the car or from the cord inside the trunk. I need to be able to add gas soon. Any suggestions on how to open the door and then as to where the clip might need to be installed?
Thank you, John Lambert
Try having somebody pull on the gas door as you pull the release inside the car. The black clip you dropped may be a spring to push door open when release is pulled. If that does not work you will have to remove the plastic trim pannel inside the wheel well and unbolt gas door from the back side. That may be difficult if you've never done before. Good luck.
