97 cavalier shimmies when stopping or diving slow

While i'm driving it sounds like there is something bouncing around in my trunk but there's nothing in my trunk, the spare tire is secure. Anytime I drive at a slow speed or when I am stoping I notice that my car shimmies from side to side. Any suggestions?

You should try to either look at the rear tire shocks and strutts or underneath the lining in your trunk there are bolts it could be that they came loose and you need a tourqe rench to tighten them .....hope one of those is the problem e mail me back if they werent

When should I change the shock on my Toyota Tacoma 2007?

Assuming you have inspected the shocks and there's no obvious leaks, cracks, tears, etc.

The classic "bounce" test is to get on the corner you want to test (in this case, one side of the rear bumper) and jump up and down to get the corner bouncing, then hop off. The shocks should stabilize the car in one-and-a-half gyrations (so, when you hop off, it should go up, down, up and then stop bouncing). If it's more, shocks are starting to wear out.

How it handles when driving is the other big indication. If it sways too much on sharp turns or dives too much when you break hard, those are signs that the shocks are starting to wear out, too.

When you hit your brakes does your steering wheel shimmy a little bit? If not it is most likely your bearings in your wheel have gone bad. If it shimmy's it also could be your ball joints.

Klunking sound coming from rear passenger side on the downward bounce after driving over imperfections in the road/bumps; suspension?

Likely,
If you have eliminated the obvious causes such as loose things in the trunk (sorry but I have had similar complains where there was something loose in the trunk)
It may be the strut top on the problem side.

97 Cavalier brake chattering at 80 km/hr or higher

Sounds as if your brake rotors are warped from overheating. You can have them machined to take this out if they are thick enough. This should take care of the problem, if not replace rotors.

Have 2005 Odyssey with same shimmy at low speed

Usually if u can drive into and out of a shimmy it is tire problems, usually balance. It can happen at diffenent speeds. The "shimmy" is the tires bouncing.

Why does my rpm gage bounce when i push my clutch in?

May be an iac motor slow to react to change in load. RPM will change when shifting or engaging/disengaging clutch. Does not sound serious yet ... If you can, compare with similar vehicle and see it it does the same.
