Maybe your cluch plate needs replacing, it maybe down to the rivots...the noise you can hear might be the rivots rubbing on the flywheel,Hence the clutch being lower to the floor.

My 1993 c 1500 Chevy 4.3 manual transmission makes a grinding noise in 1 ,2 ,3 gear an it gets stuck between gears. I replaced the clutch , what else could be the problem ?

Hi Carl,

This sounds like bearing issues in the transmission. Your description sounds like counter shaft. 4th gear is straight through, so likely some less noisy.
SO, you could go through the trans, but this gets cost prohibitive real fast. Only takes one gear and then another then too much cost.

If you are not capable in rebuilding the trans, consider a used transmission. Much less cost, but some risk if the trans is not good...

Do i need a clutch ?

my thing with cars is always the simplest solution first, and that would be the clutch. how many miles does this car have? if it's over 90k and the clutch has never to your knowledge been replaced, then it is most likely the clutch. Nissan often puts very high quality clutches that last forever tho, on my 1986 300ZX turbo, I replaced the first clutch at 149,000 miles. Also, how did it go out? was it progressively losing power over time, or was it a loud crunching noise? Progressive'd point to a clutch.

I put a new clutch pressure plate and throw out bearing in my 1993 dodge stealth along with a new slave cylinder and itr wont disengage

Sounds like you may have some air in the clutch..Try and bleed the clutch a few times and see if that helps the problem..Hope this helps you and have great night....

I have and 03 Toyota hilux turbo deisel and there seems to be a whistling noise coming from the gear box, but if I rest my foot on the clutch it goes away. Would you know what this might be?? Regards...

Sound like the diaphragm springs on the pressure plate. are being worn by the release bearing. The release bearing seizes up and causes a whistling sound when parked, with out clutch depressed. You will eventually. lose you clutch if you let this persist. The best thing you can do is replace the clutch pressure, clutch, reliese bearing, and pilot bearing. All this comes with a clutch kit.
I also recomend resurfacing your flywheel.

-to remove your pilot bearing you can fill the hole with grease and take a 3/8 extention and hit the extention into hole. this usual allows the pilot bearing to come out.

I bet your pressure plate will look like this
