Question about 1984 Mazda RX-7
My rx7 just doesnt want to start its getting fuel and power but it just doesnt want to fire over. it started earlier this morning but ever since then it has just cranked without fully turning over. if any one can help im open to suggestions. thanks.
The engine is most likely flooded. I worked at a mazda dealer a long time ago and the best way to fix it is to remove all 4 plugs and wind it over Not touching the throttle at all.Take an oil squirt can filled with engine oil and put a couple squirts in one spark plug hole of the leading and one plug hole of the trailing.Again turn the engine over about 10 seconds without the plugs in. Wait 20 mins and reinstall the plugs (all 4) then try starting as you would normally. IF this dosent work,,get ur buddy to hook a ROPE to the front of it and tow it.Once you reach about 30 mph with the transmittion in 4th gear let the clutch out (with the ignition switch on so lights r on on the dash) . Let ur buddy tow it a bit like that without touching the gas at all and it should start.IF it dosent,,keep on towing but play with the throttle and it will soon start to run on its own. These engines are the worst thing I ever seen to get going after their flooded.Thats if that really is the problem. Not too much goes wrong with them so Im betting this will work.

you may need to run a wire from a keyed ignition source that has power while cranking and running to the fuel pump relay and bypass the pcm to test wether it will run, if it runs put a more permanent wire in place. Not too sure what tests youve done but it seems that fuel is what your focusing on so a quick test is too spray engine start up the intake tube to see if the engine trys to run if it does it eliminates a lot of other potential reasons for a no start condition. Also try squeezing the fuel return line to see if the added pressure will try to make engine run.Could be time to replace fuel pump etc anyway let me know how it goes good luck with it

it could be many things, no fire or no fuel, replaceing your spark plugs is most likely the leats expensive thing to do and if that doesnt work then there is most likley a problem with the fuel either too much or not enough. rx7s are notorious for flooding and it doesnt take much.
