Try moving your steering wheel hard from side to side as you turn key. Sometimes it's not registering in park, try moving shifter. let me know how that works

SOURCE: A 2008 Chevrolet Equinox that is dead

It sounds like a dead battery or battery connections. The keys won't come out, because there is a positive feed wire to the lock cylinder that will not allow it to turn the lock position when there is no power.

SOURCE: cannot remove key from ignition

I have a similar problem in my 2006 Aveo. When turning off the vehicle, the key will not come out completely unless I "nudge" the gear shifter slightly to the right; this allows the key to turn freely and come out. Similarly, when shifting out of park, I must nudge the shifter slightly to the right until I hear a click. Then I have to quickly push it further to the right in order to shift out of park. Apparently this sort of thing is a common problem in the 2005-06 model Aveo. While I haven't gotten mine fixed, I have researched some things you might try... first, I would look into the BTSI (brake transmission shift interlock) solenoid. Apparently it has been a common cause of this problem. Second, you might try removing the fuse for your radio... I read that one person that was able to do this as a temp. fix. Hope this helps.

When you turn off car key wont cume out

You have a problem with the shifter. Common on the Aveo's. There's a switch on the shifter that wears out. When put in 'Park' it releases the ignition to remove the key. When that switch screws up it's not releasing the ignition. Replace the shifter. I'm a Chevy mechanic.

My 2005 aveo daytime lights are staying on after car is turned off. Is this a problem with the ignition system? The key also gets very hot after driving the car for 15 minutes or more.

IT SEEMS MORE LIKE A CROSS WIRE ON YOUR DAHS BOARD THAN A IGNITION PROBLEM, CHECK YOUR DRIVING LIGHTS WIRING FIRST, CHECK FOR CRACK OR BROKEN PROTECION WIRES, RIGHT UNDER YOUR STERING WHEEL NEX TO THE KEY SWICHT FOLLOW ALL THOSE WIRES UNTIL YOU SEE THEY MEET WHIT DRIVING LIGHT ARNES AND DOBLE CHECK FOR BURN OR OPEN WIRES . HOPE YOU FIND IT.

Second Chip key for 2005 Aveo won't work

assuming the 2005 model year stil uses viper security systems...the chip in the key carries a magnetic resistance frequency. if the chip is damaged or corroded the frequency will change and wont engage the igntion. you can either get another key made (about 75 dollars) or bypass the ignition lockout feature.
