All grounds seem fine. I can't hear the fuel pump though. All of the under dash fuses are fine. All of these power losses happened at once. Is there a main fuse or relay somewhere that may have blown?

I just talked to a friend and he suggested [ if it has a distributor cap ] check inside under the rotor button. there is a module there with 2 or 3 wires on it. When these goe, you get no spark to motor. If it has the coil packs, check for a fusable link uner the hood, coming from the battery. Follow the wires to the starter and the wires coming off the starter. Sometimes fusable link is located near the starter. This will cause all electrical systems to shut down. Under the hood of some 02's there is also a plastic box containing main relays and fuses. Your problem lies in one of these places

If you didnt lose power to all electrical systems I would suggest that the crankshaft sensor was bad. If your motor is a 4.3L , This is located in the front of the motor, under the bottom crankshaft pulley. . This sends power to your coil, giving you spark. These sensors are easy to get at, and you have to break them to get them out . Sometimes this fusable link is a larger wire with an onion type thing in the center and you cant change the fuse in them, you may need the whole wire. cheap

If your car won't start, try this procedure:

  • Check the battery cable connections:
Make sure the positive cable, makes a good connection at the battery and at the starter. Make sure the negative cable makes a good ground connection at the battery and (preferably) at the engine.
  • Check the battery the simple way, like this:
Turn on the headlights, then try to start the car.If the headlights do not dim or go out, then the battery is likely ok.
  • Check the starter and solenoid:
If the wiring looks ok, then look at the starter solenoid for a good connection, and proper voltage at the starter(10 volts minimum while cranking).
If the starter spins and no crank, the problem is most likely the Solenoid's bendix gear is stuck.
Have someone hit (not too hard) the starter while you try to start the car. This usually works by dislodging a stuck bendix gear.
  • Make a simple test of the alternator:
If you can, somehow get the engine running, measure the voltage at the battery. It should be at least 13.6 volts to properly charge the battery.

Check all your fuses. The fuse for your fuel pump,. If fuse is ok, Turn key onto the acc position and listen for your fuel pump. You should hear it hum. You also have fuel relays, but I'm still wondering why you are blowing fuses for all that together. May be a bad ground or direct short. Check fuses then get back to me please. and dont forget to rate my solution thanks

All grounds seem fine. And under dash fuses. All of these power losses occurred at the same time. Is there a main fuse or relay somewhere that may have blown?

Sounds like there is a blown piston, to be sure have a compression test done on that #2 cylinder, if the reading is low, then you'll know.
A friend of mine had a 95 that did simular things only a little more,
it started smoking, dash lights flickered, etc. Finally, he had to get rid of it, the piston rod went through the engine block.

2004 Grand Vitara won't start

the trans only blocks cranking so we can ignore the overdrive lamp.
when car will not start, (state , what engine you have first)? 2.0L I4 or V6?
the first thing to check is .
is the gas tank above 1/4?
is there spark. on all 4 to 6 spark plugs.
are all fuses good.
does the CEL lamp glow key on, if not the ECU/PCM is dead and there will be no spark or fueling ever. but fuses can blow and disable ECU.

2002 Grand Marquis headlights won't turn off with switch, won't go out until vehicle is turned off

Might these be "driving lights"?
Cars with "driving lights" have lights that are supposed to stay on all the time the engine is running.
These lights not only look like headlights, in fact some cars even have the headlights themselves come on when the engine is running. Look as some more (several) 2002 Grand Marquis's and see if they are the same.
Be blessed.

Headlights won't go off

Hello! I don't see a connection between the headlight issue and not starting...However I definitely see a connection with the accident and not starting...When you say "not starting" do you mean the starter doesn't crank the engine or it does crank the engine but won't start? Do you have a meter and a wee bit of experience using one? If you do we can isolate this fault together...Send a comment...Guru...Saailer

It won't turn over

Try this procedure:
Check the battery like this:
Turn on the headlights, then try to start the car.
If the headlights do not dim or go out, then the battery is likely ok.
Check that the battery cable plus post, goes to the starter, Minus post to a good ground, like the engine.
If wiring is ok, then look at the starter solenoid for a good connection, and proper voltage at the starter.
Problem is most likely the Solenoid's bendix gear or starting relay, Have someone bang on the starter while you try to start the car. This usually works by dislodging the bendix gear..
Hope this helps.

No power

There is a park/neutral switch by the transmission. Make sure the connector is connected otherwise your car won't start. This switch only allows you to start in park or neutral. If not connected the car thinks you are in some other gear trying to start.

Can't get interior dash lights or tail lights to work,i have pulled the fuses and checked them, but they were not blown. My headlights, turn signals, and brake lights work but dash lights and tail lights...

you do have a blown fuse, this car has 2 to 3 fuseboxs, the fuse that holds the dash and park lights is located in the under the hood fusebox, its fuse # 8, heres a diagram of the fusebox in the engine compartment under the hood, hope this helps,36e8e5a.gif

I just had the same issues. No headlights, interior lights, power door locks, radio controls on steering wheel, or dash lights. Pulled every fuse in cab and under hood, not a one was bad. I disconnected the battery terminals for a few minutes. When I reconnected them every thing was working.
