use a water dispersant to clean out the distributor cap, HT leads and around the coil terminals. Check that there is no carbon tracks in the cap and that the plug leads are not touching each other . clean around the rubber covers at the plugs as any moisture there will short the HT spark directly to earth

1994 previa wont start when its damp outside

Often a sign of faulty plug wires or cap and rotor.
The moisture makes the spark jump around too much.

98 altima has trubble starting in really damp wet weather. change pulgs and wires already.

if it only does this in damp weather, its more likely its in the ignition system. if it has a distributor check the cap for moisture and cracks. if it does have a cap. spray wd-40 inside cap to displace the moisture. WD stands for water displacement. when its dry outside and engine running. get a spray bottle and fill it with water, spray the dist. cap and wires. if there is a problem the car will chug and almost stall out. if this happens, thats the problem. have a good day !!

Won`t start after siting in damp weather for a day or two

Check your distributor cap. You may have a moisture build up on the inside of the cap. If that's it, you will need to get something to seal the distributor cap, or replace it. I hope this helps

When it gets really wet or goes through drive through wash cuts out - then starts after a while but runs really rough.

You need to change your HT leads and your distributor cap. When they get old they are very prone to allow moisture to penatrate and cause the leads and cap to ark causing poor running and starting. Try spraying a moisture repellent (WD40) on the leads and cap then run thru the car wash see if it helps. Good luck.

96 chevy blazer won't start

When you say it doesn't start...Does it crank over? Does it need a jump??

Assuming that it cranks, but doesn't start...

If it's a moisture problem there could be a problem with the distributor cap. If there's a crack in it, or it it just isn't sealed well enough. It'll crank-n-crank-n... Until it's warm for a day or so. I just went through the procedure on how to replace it for the novice, same vehicle. Take a look at that. In the interim there's a spray "wire dryer" that might help, or he could spray some WD-40 on the cap.

Another way to check is to wait until it gets dark and get a helper. One person cranks the engine, the other looks at the cap and wires. If there's any sparks from the wires, or a crack in the cap, it's a lot easier to see.

'93 Honda Civic not starting after rain.

It seems prety obvious that the rain caused the problem. It don't take much moisture to mess up a distributor. Try spraying a light coat of WD40 inside the cap and don't wipe it out. It will displace any moisture that might be in there.

Truck tends to run rough in damp weather

i think you have a cracked distributor cap that is alowing the moisture to get inside of it. i would replace the cap. you can test this but beware if it is the cap the car will not start until all the moisture is dryed out of it. start the vehicle and spray just a fine spray of water on the cap if the vehicle acts up it is your cap or possible a plug wire
