The heaters on a lot of these later models is flowing constanly i believe so it could be the flap itself , also a small hand held vacum pump or a vacuum claener and then just go through exactly what you did but only dont re-replace your leads it will be quite simple to find the leak maybe at the manifold where it branches from if your ears are good . failing that try a small (and i mean small) blow of air through the system like from a hair drier

The hot exhaust gas is coming up thru the EGR valve.
It probably needs to be replaced with a new sensor.

make sure your heater core is in good condition this could be done with a compression test, if that is fine i would make sure the climate control switch is working proper and not shorting between cold and hot

96 explorer wont blow a/c out of bi level vents also only blows on high

There is a vac control for the blend door to direct air flow. You may have a vac leak between the control and the engine - or the blend door may be stuck.
The blower motor uses a resistor to change speed, high speed bypasses the resistor. Check the resistor for melted wires inside.

Ac is blowing out of defrosterandnot panels in the dash. Air is cool cold air will blow out of rear seat panel/vent 1998 ford explored

The most common cause is a bad blend door actuator which controls air flow throughout the cabin. When air flow only flows from 1 section (either floor, vent, or defrost) it's an indication that the blend door actuator is either stuck or broken.

My 1998 4.0L Ford Explorer only blows hot air. The vaccum line is broken just above the heater water control valve. Not sure where it connects . I believe I need the diagram to show how it connects.

mmm i had the same problem with my 1998 4.0L Ford Explorer probably a leaking condenser, sounds like you have a problem with your AC system, i suggest taking it to a ford servicing centre.

Ford Explorer, 1998, V6 4L the cold and hot air is only blowing HOT air from interier air unit, when swiched to cold and the air cond is not working ? thankyou dgp

Check all the vacuum hoses connected to the vacuum motors to see if they are disconnected or damaged. A fairly common one is the vacuum hose leading from the engine to the heater controls on the dash. It gets roasted from engine heat. G/L

Sounds like the vac valve is bad to the A/C controller. It should be located in the vac line from the intake before it goes thru the firewall to the controller.
