The most common reason is a faulty blower motor. You would need to check for voltage and ground at the motor when it will not run. If you have power and ground you may be able to tap on the motor and make it work.
If you don't have power or ground you would need to trace the circuits to find the problem.

SOURCE: Heater fan workiing intermittently

Check your fuses. That would definitely be my first guess. Take one out for the wipers or something time being and pop it in and see if your fan doesn't fire right up.

you need to have someone check the battery cable ends, sounds like you are loosing the ground circuit, when this happens the anti theft system will set, and you will losse the radio memory, probly just replae the battery cable ends and that should take care of the problem...good luck

let me know if there is any thing else you need.

SOURCE: HEATER/DEFROSTER FAN QUIT WORKING

Could be the blower motor, or the resistor, or a bad connection in the harness. Someone would need to check for power and ground at the motor first.

The defrost, heater and Ac all went out on my 1993 maxima.

If the blower worked, but couldn't get cold air, there may be a leak of refrigerant in the A/C system. If you're complaint is about the lack fan-forced air; that could be a problem with the fan speed switch or a bunch of other places. Most often however, it is the speed control resistor. 5 hours ago - Run a 12 volt jumper lead to the fan motor connector from the battery or fuse box, if the fan runs replace the fan speed control module.

Hi, an intermittent blower can be caused by either the switch or the motor itself. To find which it is, try messing with the switch to see if it will misbehave. If not, then the next time it doesn't work, try hitting the motor. Unfortunately your blower is behind the glove box, but maybe you can just pull the glove box past its stops and reach back to hit the motor with your fist. It hitting it makes it start, the motor has a dead spot on the commutator and should be replaced. Please let me know if you have any questions, and thanks for using FixYa.

The most likely cause of your concern would be the fan control amp. It is located behind the glove box. It controls the ground side of the blower motor. But before replacing it, check to see if you have power and ground at the blower motor.

It sounds like the the thermostat that was replaced is probably faulty. This being the cheapest and easiest to do I would start there. I can't reply about the air pockets. I have never heard of that before.
