Open Question

VW Polo will not turn over. All of a sudden 1 day will not start when the key is turned. All lights comeon, will not start with jump leads. Turn the ignition and with the bonnet open i can hear a buzz for 2 seconds then a click and nothing. Car starts fine with a bump start.

SOURCE: new 2009 VW Jetta has occaisional starting

Yes, we were told by our Service Manager that they are having issues with the 2.5 engine. But, don't know what the issue is. We were told to use 91 Octane fuel, purchase gas from Top Tier gas retailers and park the car in the garage (keep the car warm). The car should be able to run on the recommened low grade gas (stated in the owners manual). I have the Technical Bulletin from VW. It basicaly states us consumer are getting contaminated gas and we need to purchase gas at Top Tier retailer. Shame on VW for blaming the consumer on their engine issues. VW could be the new cover up?

My VW golf TDi won't start since I changed my battery. It started fine for three days and now there is absolutely nothing there when I turn the key not even a click. Please help

1. Do all lights, accessories, central locking system etc in the car all operate normally.

2. Have you tested to see if the car starts when you try jump starting from another vehicle.

3. What warning lights were displaying on the vehicle a day or 2 before you had the problem.

4. Were you having the same starting problems with the old battery that you have just replaced.

hi from uk check the main lead from battery+positive to the starters solenoid is secure ? also there is a thin wire that also connects to solenoid on a terminal of its own this is the solenoid energizing wire that works starter when key start position is selected if all above is ok? then use a jump lead and connect one end to battery negative post then the other end of lead to a suitable earth point on engine ? then try starting? if it works/starts ? you have a bad earth connection to engine from battery negative lead check the earth lead connection at point on engine is clean/secure ? it usually is secured by bolt at point where engine and transmission connect ? hope this helps?

VW polo will not start

If you always need jump start it is the battery problem. But battery problem might be because alternator is not giving enough charge due to worn, damged, deposited wires or internal circuit. Uphill problem might due to direct connection to alterantor problems or due to fuel pump/filter or clogged catalytic converter. Also might be O2 sensor or vacuum leak.
Good Luck

2003 VW Golf won't start - battery was charged

You need to charge your battery up more. Either get a battery charger or leave the jumper cables hooked up for a longer period of time.
Your battery was probably completely dead. You might even need a new battery...they really don't like to be completely drained.
