Lets say i check motor oil and i drive for 6 hours and check it again and its needing more motor oil why?

Because you lost some oil from the crankcase. You either have a leak, usually from a worn or broken gasket, or your engine is burning oil. Inspect the bottom of the engine and see if there is excessive oily wetness indicating a leak. If you don't see evidence of a leak, the engine is starting to burn oil - the piston rings or valve guides are getting worn, and allowing oil to get into the combustion area of the cylinders.

Losing alot of oil

have it checked for oil leaks, if there is no oil leaks or small leaks that won`t justify the amount of oil your losing then you engine is burning the oil. it could be stuck oil rings. there is chemicals that you can add to the oil to see if they will free up and stop burning oil. just because you don`t see a lot of smoke out the tailpipe doesn`t mean its not burning oil. another thing to check is the PCV valve as if it isn`t working properly can cause oil burning as well.

2007 Yukon xl denali burning oil

If you smell burning oil, you may have a leak in the engine compartment reaching the exhaust manifold and burning on contact. The most common cause for that is leaking valve cover gaskets. If you are losing oil with NO signs of external leaks, the engine may be burning it internally. Valve stem oil seals, worn piston rings, blown/leaking head gasket are a few causes of that.

Engine burning oil no oil leak little smoke

oil leaks are hard to identify by the blue smoke that you used to see. most of this smoke is burned up by the catalytic converter. at least until all of that oil plugs the converter up. you can tell if your burning oil by removing the spark plugs, and checking their appearance against diagnostic charts redily available on the internet. oil burning will leave a distinctive residue.

My van is burning oil (a lot of it) I just put in 4qt of oil two weeks ago, and again it's empty. What can i do to fix this

First you need to determine if the van is "burning" oil or "leaking" oil. If the exhaust is bluish in color, this is a good indicator that you are burning oil and you probably need a valve job. A common issue with vehicles this age is an oil leak around the valve cover gasket. Oil leaks and burns off on the manifold. If when you open the hood and smell a great deal of oil, this is more likely the cause of using so much oil. The best way is to inspect the engine compartment first. If you can't spot any excess oil there, get under the van and look for a leak near the oil pan, oil plug, or more forward toward the engine compartment. Hope you find this answer helpful. Best of luck.

Toyot Rav4 1996 Uses Oil

It has to be either burning it or you have a leak. If you changed the oil and overfilled it a gasket may have blown. try pouring a can of engine stop leak. Maybe it will help.

Oil consuption

Try to determine how much is leaking by putting a plastic pan under car overnight..
Typical leak sources are pan gasket, oil plug, oil pressure sender.

If burning oil, it will be obvious at startup and/or from the rear while driving especially during hard acceleration. Have some drive behind you to observe. They'll see obvious bluish smoke.

If burning is most responsible, and not much is leaking, you may have worn valves or piston rings.
Both fairly expensive to repair. As a temporary cheap solution, add oil additive (such as STP or Rislone) to reduce burning (it may slow the leak a bit too).
