Sounds like a reallt bad CV joint in your axle. Also possible that your axle is pulling out of transmission. Jack car up and have someone move wheel around while watching and listening . Good luck, and I wouldn't drive it like that, you may cause more damage if it lets go. good luck if this is of help, please rate solution

See I heard like a "pop" noise about 15 min prior to the car wheel locking every time I tried to turn?

That will definatily turn out to be a CV joint. It is a universal joint on the axle. This is a pretty easy fix and I could walk you through it, but if I was you, I'd try jacking it up and spinning the wheels . Also grab onto the wheel and try to move in in and out, from top top bottom. Grab the axle near the wheel and pull it hard. If you get any movement at all, look at where it's coming from. . If your wheel moves at all, it could also be a wheel bearing gone bad, but they usually give you some warning before they actually bind up. They usually get bad and sound like you are on railway tracks. Try these methods and let me know how you make out. I can walk you through better if you test these things.Good luck. Not a huge fix

Try turning the wheel as to release pressure and then turn the key, if that don't work the ignition lock tumble's pins are bad, a mobile locksmith can rekey your ignition lock.

My 2001 impala has the rear drivers side wheel locked up. it will turn backwards but not forwards and it is front wheel drive. Anybody know anything about this?

Could be the break caliper or a bad wheel bearing. You will need to remove the wheel and physically see if the breaks are held tight so it will not turn.If not then the wheel bearing has seized.

Key cant turn ignition

Have you tried a spare key ? The lock could be damaged or have excessive force applied from the shifter or steering wheel.

Why won't my ignition key turn over and my steering wheel is locked in place at the sametime?

I'm assuming you mean your key wont turn in the ignition. first off check to make sure the car is in park. then what you gotta do is put in the key and put a little pressure as if turning but dont turn too hard, then even though the steering wheel is locked you will have to try to move it a little, if you parked with your tires turned then you will want to try to turn the wheel in the same direction, (even locked you should be able to move it about a half inch) you will have to turn the wheel hard but it should move enough to allow the key to turn, you may have to jiggle the key a little in the ignition but it should eventually turn, just remember not to try turning the key too hard, the extra force wont make it go but can cause the key to break. this tends to happen when you turn the car off andthe steering wheel gets locked if the wheels are turned hard in either direction. also if multiple attempts at this still dont work, try taking the key out and turning it over and trying again. Even though both sides of the key are identicle, because of wear on the key and the ignition, sometimes when the wheel locks the ignition, it will only turn if the key is put in a certain way. Hope this helps, good luck

2001 ford taurus key won't turn ignition

The steering wheel was turned when the key was removed. So when you try to turn on the key, turn the wheel one way and the other way to release the pressure on the key. The key should turn ok.
Hope this helps.

Have a Traction Active light on when I turn left at a slow speed.

EITHER YOU HAVE A HUB ASSEMBLY/ABS SENSOR FAILING IN THE LEFT FRONT WHEEL. THE IMPALA'S ARE REALLY BAD ABOUT CUTTING/TEARING WIRES THAT RUN TO THE ABS SENSOR. PULL THE WHEEL OFF AND CHECK YOUR WIRING TO THE SENSOR IF IT LOOKS GOOD THEN YOU WILL NEED A NEW SENSOR/HUB ASSEMLY.

MY ignition want turn forward or backward so i can get the lock pushed in to pull the tumbler out any solutions?

will try to assist you.are you parked on a hill? or parked somewhere as to out the transmission in a "bind"? try turning your key switch to the on position and at the same time you're attempting to turn the key to on,wiggle the steering wheel back and forth, like you're turning to left or right. sometimes the steering lock binds when the cars parked on a hill,or parked against a curb.try to turn the steering wheel to the left, while turning the key to "on" some times rocking the car back and forth will free up the locked steering column.while turning the key to the "start" position of course. try this and if this does'nt help you" please repost your question to fixya.com. thank you for seeking out fixya.com we look forward to assisting you in your future automotive,or household questions with appliances,or just about anything.there are experts ready to assist you 24/7

Key will not turn in the ignition

Make sure you did not activate the steering lock. Does the steering wheel turn the usual amount it should while the car is off, or is it locked in place? Try turning the steering wheel as far left or right as it will go. It should not be far. Then try turning the key.

Key won't turn and steering wheel is locked

Have you tried wiggling the steering wheel at the same time as you turn the key? Have you tried pushing on the gear shift lever, to make sure it's all the way in park?
