If you can find any coolent drips on the floor or around the engine, you have a leak. if not look for a head gasket failure

2006 Equinox. Losing water. Over heats. Is this a thermostat or water pump problem??

Depends on where the coolant is going.
If it is an external leak it could be a leaking water pump. If there are no external leaks and you are loosing coolant, it could be a blown head gasket. Especially if the engine has already overheated once.
A sticking thermostat would cause the engine to overheat and then loose coolant from the overflow tank. But not until it overheats.

Losing coolant fast!

Take the coolant expansion tank out
& check it out (find the Leak)

Could be the tank is cracked
Could be there is a hose leaking

Coolant leak from underneath

if you have a coolant or antifreeze mixed with the water, you should see a trace of the coolant on the motor, where it is leaking. check water hose clamps and water pump. if the water pump is leaking slowly, it has failed and will break within time. any coolant leak will cause your car engine to overheat.

Ac blows hot air in kia sportage

A/C BLOWS HOT. Radiator in Kia is rather small it overheats quickly. I should have checked the simplest thing first which was the radiator coolant level. I had a slow leak in radiator it was losing coolant but not very noticeably. I initially took it to have the a/c system checked all was good, they referred me to an electric repair shop but all the fuses and relays were good. I don't normally check coolant level as it is checked by dealer when oil is changed, this is a 2nd car and I don't drive it daily. Since coolant level was dropping slowly the engine would not overheat, however coolant got low enough to trigger emergency a/c compressor shut down switch to keep engine from overheating. That's why a/c would cool for 10 mins. in the morning but then shut off. Simple fix I filled the radiator and overflow tank. A/C started working perfectly again. After doing this a few times I realized the radiator had a leak which eventually had to be replaced $700.00 parts and labor. Its all good now.

Overheating coolant boiling out into reserve tank

you have a blown head gasket.. doesn't have to have coolant in the oil for a blown head gasket... if hoses are rock hard when running then you have exhaust leaking into the coolant via a blown head gasket...

are you mixing the coolant with water if yes,you need to just put straight up anti freeze ,because water evaporates at high temperatures .. also keep resorvoir full at all times there is a sensor in the tank that when is low it makes the check coolant light come on ,,....good luck

Well all signs point to the initial stage of head gasket leak.

The piston(s) push the air/gas mixture into the coolant passage in the engine head.

You are lucky to able to catch it before oil coolant cross mix and blowing white after warm.

hydrocarbon HC test is a must!

I will not drive the truck until you check for freeze plugs leaks, change thermostat and radiator cap.

There is a very effective head gasket sealer call SteelSeal.

You will need two bottles.

After everything is under control then you must do a coolant system pressure test.

Fixya just published my coolant system inspection tip.

Coolant come from radiator cap. can t see any leaks on road but have noticed coolant markings (white) spray near cap etc

hi paxo
im dave
You need to buy a new cap
The cap should not let any coolant out
Any excess should coolant should flow through the tube to the coolant resorvoir jug
however if the cap is not rising with the pressure in the system the hole to the resorvoir will not expose and coolant will have nowhere to go but out the cap. messy
