I usually get lucky with a pair of fine tweasers but you can also try: if the key is steel try using a magnet to encourage it out. if it isn't you can try a pin to apply impact adhesive to the key ends.
if theres just no budging it i have taken the barrell right off and tapped it upsidedown until enough key appeared to grab with pliers

snapped key into what lock cylinder or ignition switch or do you have both ends of the key itself or not ?

if you have one end stuck in either lock / ignition cylinder you can try using a welders torch cleaning tip kit it contains many various sized brushes and files etc which will allow you to get in beside the broken end of the key and wiggle it out .,,,any parts store should have them ...

My key broke off in the ignition ,how do i remove the lock cylinder

Just an idea - could save a hell of a lot of time and money, but it depends how the key snapped if you can get the glue to stick...
you can put a tiny drop of crazy/super glue on the snapped part of the key, put it in the lock and make it so its perfectly touching the key, you can take the old bit of key out of the lock when it sticks and have a locksmith make you a new key from the two bits... cheaper than an ignition barrell.
use the tiniest speck of glue possible, use a hair or whisker to get a tiny drop of glue onto the key, put it in the same way round it snapped off so the two faces mate together properly - after 2 minutes pull out the key, if it is stuck give it a wiggle and still pull...
any glue that gets in the lock can be removed with nail varnish remover (acetone)
Dont know about how to remove the cylinder sorry...

Key dont turn

try turning the steering wheel hard both ways while jiggling the key (gently, you don't wanna snap it off) in the ignition. usually it just gets hung up on the steering wheel lock.
if that doesn't do it, try the same but with a spare key

Hi I would suggest you ring the Automobile association, and see whether one of their mobile mechanics can solve your problem. extracting a car key from the barrel may be more difficult than it appears. He, the mobile man may have done it before and have the right tools for the problem.
