I had the same issue on my 2002 mercusy sable LS a couple monts back. Had to replace the who fuel system. Not cheap since its in the gas tank. cost about 600.00 bucks. We tried to replace the filter first and the smell stopped for a week then came back and then we relpaced the more expensive part. Still love my car I only have 72000K

what you replaces is of no bearing.
what counts is realty.
find the leak.
if it really is raw gas, do not drive car or garage it.
park it far from home and people. (curb it.)
gas fumes if not real raw fuel (liquid) can come from EVAP canister
hose fell off.
first look for injector leaks (outside body)
and fuel hose leaks, (look at these first as they are 10x more dangerous that others)

scan it, what do you have.?

if there is raw fuel dripping from the exhaust manifold that means
the INJECTors are stuck on or leaking, this is one of the most dangerous conditions on all EFI cars.

I smell gas inside the car, Mercury sable, as well as from the battery side. I checked the whole fueling pipes and engine. There was no leakage. Can anybody help me on that?

Do you top off the fuel tank when filling up, if so stop it you are soaking the vapor canister storage container. Also put the car up in the air and look for fuel leaks, they are very easy to spot as they leave a distinctive stain that a trained professional will recognize right away..

I smell gas fumes in my car mercury sable when I drive it no gas leaks

you may have an exhaust leak in the engine compartment and the blower motor may be sucking it into the cabin of your car.

I smell strong gas fumes after driving car. How do I find where it's leaking from?

If it is a gas leak and not an exhaust leak, let it sit in park and look under the car for the leak (above and on the floor). At times it is the lines of the sending unit found above the gas tank. Do not drive it! The leak can catch on fire ( the leak can spread over hot parts of the car while driving). If you find the leak, have it towed to your mechanic for repair.

Fuel leak (smell is in the passenger vent) but cannot be located.

sounds like it could be a leaking fuel rail. you should fix this very soon. if it is it is a fire hazard. that is if it is under hood and not underneath. look under vehicle and check for wet spots.

Smell oil burning when fan kicks on whats this?

If your smelling burning oil I would say your valve cover gaskets are leaking most likely down on to the exhaust manifold and when the fan kicks on it is blowing it back and into the car . So I would look for oil on the engine most of the time it is leaking valve covers and some times spilled oil .

Acts like its running out of gas, raw gas smell

this suggests you have a fuel leak in the engine compartment. Possibly a leaking fuel manifold (injection rail), or the rubber line from the fuel tank is leaking where it attaches to the manifold. The fuel line to the cold start injector should also be checked. Rubber hoses on older cars become brittle and as they contract from very cold weather will leak. Turn the key to on for 1 minute but do not start the car. Then check under the hood for a raw fuel wet spot where the leak is.
