First off check thermostat is not stuck shut,failing that could be impeller broken on water pump..

Sounds to me that you might have a leak in the line. Those heaters are all Vacume actuated.

Please be more precise. There are LOTS of places coolant can come from in the top of an engine. Is it coming from a hose? Is it coming from a part of the engine itself? What does that part look like? Help us help you.

My 1997 civic dx,in fifth gear it whistles what could be the problem?and never over heated before forgot to put my coollent cap and all of it came out refilled it and only over heats when on freeway?


could be a an air blockage some fiats have a small valve which you have to turn to release the presure if not get the thermostat checked if you take the cap of any car radiator bottle the back presure will make the water come out be very carfull as the water in the colant system is super heated and wiil scold thanks ivan

Changed the radiator and water pump. still burns off a little coolant but wont withdrawn coolant from resevoir


here's how the the cooling system on your suv works, when the coollent reaches a sertain temp the it will build pressure in the system the pressure will open the radator cap and will either push un needed coolent into the resevore or take coolent from it. if the level in the radator is fine and the coolant level in the resevore is fine then there should be no problem but if your still having problems try having your radator cap pressure tested.

NOT GETTING ANY HEAT AT ALL, REPLACED WATER PUMP, THERMOSTAT, VALVE TAP ON HEATER HOSE CHECKED VACUM ALL WORKS CAR RUNS WELL NO OVERHEAT PROBS, AND HEATER CORE FLOWING WELL. JUST NO HEAT FROM HEATER AT ALL


Make sure the blower runs, then make sure the heat and ventilation control doors move as they should. If you have hot coolant flowing through the heater core, air flow through the core, and appropriate air flow path, then you will have heat.

Where is the cooling fan relay located on a 1997 ford escort lx. Replaced the fan and it worked for a few minutes then the car ran hot and the fan would no longer work.


This car has a relay module that contains a few relays internally and cant be serviced the relay box must be replaced, the relay box module that contains the fan and ac compressor and fuelpump relays is located under the air filter box, remove the filter box and you will see the relay module bolted there. hope this helps.

The radiator sheds heat at a specific rate. Increasing air flow increases that rate a bit, but even with increased air flow, there is a specific rate.

When you start out, there is a "cold reservoir" in the radiator — without shedding any heat at all, for a while the cold water in the radiator will keep the engine cool.

If the heat from the engine exceeds the heat the radiator can shed, as soon as the radiator water hits the temperature of the engine, you will have overheating.

If you have a head gasket leak, you are injecting heat directly into the water, heat that ought to go out the tailpipe.

If some of the tubes in the core of the radiator are not flowing, the ability of the radiator to shed heat will be diminished.

I am thinking it is either a head gasket leak/cracked combustion chamber, or a radiator that does not flow water through all the tubes.

A lean fuel mixture will generate a lot more heat than one that is richer. The coloration of the spark plug insulators can be helpful in assessing the mixture.

The fan to cool the engine is out, not working?


You need to check for power at the fan, if you have power, the fan is bad. If you don't have power then you have to trace the circuit, for a bad relay, fuse, wire, switch, etc.
