Bypass 1996 grand cherokee alarm

Ok i just bought a 1996 grand cherokee limited from the auction, but the problem is i got only one key is that was to the ignition & not to unlock the door,so with that being said i lock all my doors beside the pasenger door & i had hit the passenger door to unlock all my doors & when i did that & open the passenger front door it trigered the alarm & with that being said it want crank up because i guess the low jack on the vechical is cutting the gas off from getting to the motor,so i wanted to know if there was any way i can bypass/reset the alarm without having the keyless entry.....

just a thought , roll down the drivers window , disconnect the battery , reconnect the battery after a moment , before you do anything , reach in thru the driver window , lock and unlock the door with the power door lock button , then open the door and try to start it . when i ran into to that problem it was similar , and the trick was to disconnect battery , reconnect , use the door key to lock and unlock the door then it would reset , so without the door key this sounds like a reasonable alternative .

The locks are programed to lock at 17 mph.
You can change this through the computer setup.

SOURCE: had to buy keyless entry

I just bought one for mine too! The guy who sold it to me gave me these directions but I haven't tried them yet! Am going to on my lunch hour! Hope they work for us both :)

Forgot to put prog. instructions.in with your fob so here they are.
1.Find the ETACS unit under the steering wheel first, there is a small switch onit.
2.Once the switch is located make sure your key is not in the ignition and set the switch from off to set.
3.Press keyfobs door lock button for one second, this sends the codes to the ETACS and stores it.
4.Do the same thing if you have 2 remotes for the vehile.
5.Now set the ETACS switch from set to off.
6.Remotes should now be programed.

SOURCE: Cant get 1996 jeep grand cherokee to start after alarm stopped

The alarm might have a relay to kill the ignition. Disconnect the negative or ground from the battery, wait five minutes then connect it again. This is to try and restart the alarm. Then lock and unlock the car to get the remote in sync. Try and operate your vehicle now and let me know.

NO.
long answer below:

must I guess, you lost the 2nd key, and cant scan it?
only 93 to 1998 can be hacked, then in 1999 the rules changed.
if you didnt scan it how would you know ,it might be just communication PCI bus, problem.????????????????

you cant, nor can I.
in fact the #1 goal was to stop this practice, on later jeeps.
it began in 1993 Europe, this, features.
the USA car.
the 1996 cars, we do have it , IMMOBILIZERS.
keep in mind Alarm can be with IMMO or not.
In the usa 1996 with.called VTA features. the VTSS.

its a dream, if possible id find out and tell you.
here is the old jeep that bypasses,

this disables the immobilizer..
dont ask what that means. LOL>
ok, it immobilzes the engine, that means it cant run for longer than 3 seconds.
how to does that?, well why not read the chapter on that
in the FSM posted here over 300 times.
here it is.
no problem AGAIN.
WJ jeep, 1999
see chapter.
8Q , RTM, read the manual, it tells you how it works.,
page one, "prevents engine from running" VTSS system.

then read page 7,
read the words below, YOU CANT HACK THAT.

its not a single 1 wire, "ground it out, magic fix."

I have a 98 jeep grand cherokee. i went to start it the other day and the alarm started goin off and it ran for a few seconds and then died. is there a way to disconnect the alarm so it will stay running...

If you use the original key to lock & unlock it from the tailgate and then try starting it, it should reset the system. Be aware that when it this begins to happen more often, it is usually an indication of the battery getting weak & losing the onboard memory for the security memory. If you are using an aftemarket key this may continue to shut down because the security system does not recognize an uncoded key.

I want to permanently disconect security alarm system from 94 Jeep Grand Cherokee.I just bought this SUV with no key fab and alarm is going of all the time .

I don't know of a way of bypassing the factory alarm. From what you describe it sounds like changing the door latch assembly with the built in switches will fix your problem though.

I WAS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM, YOU HAVE TO TURN THE IGNITION OFF, GET OUT OF THE CAR, LOCK YOUR DOOR WITH THE KEY AND THEN UNLOCK IT. THAT IS ONE WAY , IF THAT DOESNT WORK PUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION AT THE SAME TIME TURN THE IGNITION SWITCH AND PRESS AND HOLD KILL SWITCH UNDER STEERING COLUMN, BEHIND FUSE BOX
