We can not locate the release clips under the hood. The drawing in the manual is not helpful.

Note: Sometimes if you pull the clip UP too far it catches on the bottom of the knob in back and the headlight won't come out. Just wiggle, or push the clip down like 1/32 of an inch or so and it will let go of the headlight assembly.

Even though i assume you solved this already, im gonna answer it here cuz i looked for 2 HOURS to find those darn clips... Open the hood, stand in front of the headlight you want to change, stop down to look at it horizontal, you will see a piece of plastic (about 1/2 " wide) sticking up from the headlight assembly (one on right, one on left) THOSE ARE THE CLIPS... they are on CERY tight, but i got a flathead screwdriver and using leverage, i popped them up ( it doesn't seem like it was gonna budge initially.. but it did- ALSO if you look on the back of the headlight assembly you will see 2 rubber type knobs..the knobs are the headlight and the plastic is the clip) pop both of those up fully ( about 1") and the headlight assembly will fall forward... take the cap off the back and change the bulb... the whole procedure will take less that 10 minutes... ONCE YOU FIGURE OUT WHAT THE CLIPS ARE... the pic in the manual is REDICULOUS!!!

SOURCE: Headlights are not working

Strange headlamp problems on Saabs can often be attributed to a failing Headlamp relay. Here are a few common situations:
Issue1- Headlamp switch will work backwards: Turn on the switch andtheheadlights go off and turn off the switch and the headlights willgoon.
Issue 2 - High beams will disappear. You will havenohighbeams. Be sure to check the headlight bulbs PRIOR to orderingtherelay. Remember however that it is possible for both high beams burnout at the same time
Issue3 - High beams will not work only the low beams will.
Issue 4 - A single bulb setting (low or high) on either side will not work and bulb replacement will fix it.
Youcan sometimesfix these issues by removing the relay, taking off thecover andresoldering the connections on the relay bottom. To performthis repair, go to my illustrated tutorial at customsaab.com.
In some cases youwill have to replace the relay to effect a long term cure. The aftermarket replacement can be had at Eeuroparts.com for about $60.00:

SOURCE: The drivers side headlight on my 2002 Saab won't

This is probably a problem with the orange headlight relay under the hood in the relay black box. Take the relay out and clean contacts and put back in. If does not fix, try a new relay or swap with another 9-5 to troubleshoot.

Headlight replacement 2000 Saab 93

To replace the headlamp on a Saab 9-3, open the hood. Behind the headlamp there is a round black plastic cover; screw clockwise and pull back; there is a metal clip holding headlamp in place (9003 i believe is the halogen number). locate top of clip and move very slightly clockwise; the top will pivot down on a hinge; release the wire harness and pull out bulb. Retrace these steps to introduce the new bulb to your Saab.

Hope this helps. Please leave a rating! FIXYA!

Headlight - Xenon - on 2003 Saab 9.3. Is this something a handy owner can replace. Also the dealer wants $275.00 for the bulb. Is this really the price?

if that is for one bulb, that's crazy. you can get them much cheaper online. it's not difficult to replace the bulb yourself. the bulbs ususally cost roughly $117 USD each. If the dealer is suggesting they will change the bulbs for both, it's a deal to have them replaced for less than $250 USD. I won't lie, it's a pain in the ****.
