It sounds to me like your transmission fluid level is low, when you brake hard the fluid moves to the front of the pan and leaves a void for the filter to grab air instead of fluid. When you stop the fluid settles back and away you go again. This could cause premature transmission failure so check it soon and top it up ASAP. With the transmission cold the fluid level should be near the add mark, full mark only if the trans is hot.

It sounds like the shifter lock out solenoid has gone bad.It is a solenoid that releases the shifter when you push the brake pedal.

if the pedal is verry hard to push then you have lost vacum to the brake booster or the booster has gone bad.

SOURCE: Gear Shift not shifting properly

Depending on whether it is a column shift or floor, you have to get the linkage loose enough to get the car in neutral, move the selector back to the proper setting, and tighten everything up.

If the car is not setting on a hill or incline, you should be able to move the shift levers by hand when you've loosened the linkage and move it until it is in neutral. Put on jack stands and chock the wheels that are on the ground.

it may require a ECM upgrade in the software
in the mean time restrict the rpms between gear changes
for example accelerate in first ti around 3000 rpms and slow down the selection and keep the rest of the changes around the 2500-3000 rpm range
naturally , the harder yo rev it the longer it will take for the rpms to drop
just as a point of interest how did you get a brand new car that is 4 years old ?

Hard to go from park to drive

You need to check the brake circuit with a meter.
The brake switch signals the shift lock solenoid to release.
It could be the brake switch, or the solenoid, or a bad connection.
You should be able to turn the key switch to unlock but not on, and shift out of park.

There is either a restriction or break in the hose from the engine to the booster or booster is faulty.

You experiencing lack of brake boost assistance as you have correctly diagnosed.

Hose should have a one-way valve in it near the booster..

My 2001 Lexus RX300 seemingly slams on the brakes while driving. i was going down a bumpy road when it began and suspect something fell off or came loose and because it's like it looses power for a second...

well, the first thing to do is remove the wheels and take a look at the brakes, make sure all the bolts are in place, check the caliper brackets, make sure the bolts are holding it and that its tight, then check under the hood and check the vaccum line from the intake to brake booster. start with these things first. good luck.
