SOURCE: 2003 kia spectra check engine code p0604

I have bad news for you
p0604 is a transmission control module

check the connection at the transmission control module if there are no connection issues than you will need to replace the transmission controll module "tcm" there is no other test for that code.

I want to flush the coolant on a 2003 Kia Optima 2.4 liter Auto with A/C. How much antifreeze should I buy to mix with water? What is the total coolant capacity?

Coolant capacity is 7.7 qts./7.3 liters, for a 2.4 liter 2003 Kia Optima.
You will not be able to get all the coolant out of the engine, unless you do a thorough engine drain and flush. If you only plan on draining the radiator, you will need less than 2 gallons mixed total to refill it, since some coolant will remain in the engine block and heater core.

My 2003 kia spectra comes up with P116 and P128 error messages. What do I need

p0116 is-- engine coolant tempurature ckt/range performance----- p0 128 is--coolant temp below thermostat regulating temperature. to fix these 2 codes are similar, change coolant tempurature sensor and thermotat all should be ok. make sure coolant in radiater is full. hope this helps you.

A code P0128 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:

  • Low engine coolant level
  • Leaking or stuck open thermostat
  • Faulty cooling fan (running too much)
  • Faulty coolant temperature (ECT) sensor
  • Faulty intake air temperature (IAT) sensor

How do i install the plastic radiator plug in the bottom of the radiator? on a 2003 kia spectra?

Should just thread in. Unless it is now stripped. Which is why I don't touch them. Pulling the lower radiator hose to drain the radiator is an easier and safer method IMHO.

You no longer had power to run thermo fans and i guess the car would have over heated and vented off built up pressure.

Air Conditioning

Check your pressures again. Jump the pressure switch and see if this makes the compressor come on. If it does then jump it long enough to get some more freon into the system. This should give switch enough pressure.

Make sure your vacuum is good on the system before you fill.
