Question about 2005 Ford F-150

Cruise control on my 1005 ford f-150 not working.

The backup light in the truck's left tail light is burnt out. Would that have something to do with the cruise control not working?

Same problem here, I checked the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) located on the rear axle, checked the Brake Pressure Switch, located on the end of the master cylinder, if you have no brake lights this can effect the cruise. No backup lights have nothing to do with cruise control, likely a burnt out bulb. I am trying to find the Cruise control fuse, not noted in the manual. and also trying to find the cruise control module not as pictured in my chiltons manual. I think it is located beside the driver side battery (deisel has two batteries). Hope this helps. melcraven@comcast.net

No the exterior lighting is an independent system and not related. Just replace the light and you should be good as far as the backup light goes.

Why wont the cruise control work on a 2005 ford taurus but the cruise light comes on

The first thing to check is the tail lights. The cruise control will not work if any lights are out. Changing to LED tail lights also causes the cruise to not work.

The Bulbs Have 2 filliments in them if 1 is burnt out that would give you the fast not working tail light there may be an issue with the brake light switch located above the brake pedal on the arm.

Cruise control stopped working 0n 2002 E-150 Ford van

You'll have to get someone to trace the wiring to find the problem.
Could be the brake light switch, the controls, or the cruise servo.
There may be a recall for the components too.

Cruse control working when i parked not working when i left the next day on 2002 ford f-150

Hello there has been a recall on these from ford so it will be worth asking them first to see if yours has been done. Secondly check your brake lights to make sure they are operating correctly,as this can stop your cruise control working. Do you have any warning lights on the dash? Faulty ABS can stop cruise coming on. Also check for any connections for corrosion.

I have a 2003 ford explorer. I accidently backed

on top of your brake master cylender under the hood (where you put in brake fluid) there is a sensor in the end of it which is for your cruise control. Un-plug the electrical connector and see if you see brake fluid in that sensor -take it to the dealer. This faulty cruise control switch has been the cause of many Fords catching fire. They will fix it for free-it is now a recall. This problem will allow the cruise not to work and an a.b.s. light also. Hope this helps!

No brake or tail lights

Here is some information to consider and check. You should concentrate on the taillights first since that does not require you to constantly step on the brake pedal.

The bulb outage module, or lamp outage module, is located to the left of the drivers left leg while sitting in the seat. It is just slightly up under the dash, clipped into a black housing. It should be a white colored box with one large electrical plug with many wires plugging into it.

The switch above the brake light switch should be a cruise control deactivation switch, so that the cruise control turns off when the brake pedal is pressed.

2002 YUKON XL Denali no brake lights or cruise

FROM LUSTY KID:

Check your bulbs first, I have lost both headlights on my ford at once on account of the bulbs burning out at the same time. Same thing probably happen, you have one filament out. The lights can work, but if the filament for brake is burnt, you don't see brake lights.

As for the cruise control. Check fuse box first. If OK check vacuum hose to actuator in engine compartment for starters.

Speed control not working, where is the fuse located?

There are three fuses that have to work for the cruise to operate, including the brake lights.Check fuse numbers 53,54, and 59. It can also be affected by the brake switch (and clutch switch - if equipped). The cruise also needs a connection through the brake light bulbs, which means that it will not work if the bulbs are burnt out or if you have LED tail lights. Try pulling up on the brake pedal to see if it is the brake switch. Please post your results. Thanks.

Cruise control shuts off with left turn signal

Just a wild suggestion not at all specific to your car... Check the bulbs in, and functionally of, your turn signals and tail lights and brake lights. I'd don't know if it still applies, but once upon a time a burnt out bulb would cause the cruise not to work (some kind of a safety thing).
