Service traction system on 2003 pontiac montana

Check the wheel speed sensors. Traction control reads wheel speeds to know when a tire loses traction(it speeds up compared to the others). When the TC control module(computer) senses a problem such as a sensor out of tolerance, or an open circuit, such as a broken or disconnected wire/connector, it disables the TC and lights the light as a tell-tale.
Are you having trouble with ABS? Usually a wheel speed sensor defect will also affect the ABS too.

Where do I check the vacuum pipes is it possible that they turned the pipes around. Does the ABS system affect the speed cruise

First you need to state the vehicle make, model and year. What was the original problem. A good mechanic will mark hoses before disconnecting them. The transmission speed sensor will affect cruise control, not the ABS function. The application of the brake pedal will drop the cruise control, Possible brake light switch problem. Perform an ODII scan for any stored speed sensor faults. Use the OBDII scan as your guide to any repairs, to avoid buying parts you don't need.

What problems does a bad speed sensor cause

A defective speed sensor will normally cause the check engine light to illuminate as well as affect speedometer operation/cruise control operation/and transmission shifting depending on make and model. It should not affect the vehicle from reaching speed. IS the check engine light on? If so, was it scanned for codes that may point you in the right direction. You may have an exhaust/converter problem starting to develop that will cause a lack of power resulting in reaching higher speeds

2006 ford fusion solenoid 2 mechanical failure the trains now only shifts between 1st, 3rd and reverse respectively. the fluid was burnt pretty bad so i did a full system flush it shifts smoother but still...

solenoids can be replaced with out affecting the transmission
however the burnt oil indicates that the transmission may need a band/ clutch pack adjustment
shifting problems are servo/ solenoids , TR sensor , VSS sensor or the TCM

Location of speed sensors on a 1992 GMC Sierra 2500 4x4

You more likely have an internal problem, namely the High-Reverse clutch pack. If the trans is making the 1 - 2 shift, and your Service Engine light is not on then your speed sensors are working. Judging by the age of the vehicle I would guess that the trans has already been rebuilt at least once (most of the overhauls I do occur at about 150,000 kms) and the failure I see most is the sealing rings have scored the direct drum and led to no third and/or reverse, and of course, no third, no fourth. Want a quick and easy check? Pull the trans dipstick and smell the fluid. It likely has a burnt smell to it.

How does the speed sensor affect your vehicle?

The speed sensor affects diffrent cars in diffrent ways. the sensor if bad will cause the transmission to not shift as the computer does not know the spped in which the car is ggoing. the traction control system if car has will shut down due to the computer not being able to control it due to no speed signal. the car may loose power as transmission shifting is incorrect.

The other problem will be the speedometer will not operate as well as the odometer.
depending on the year the check engine light will also be turnned on by the computer when it detects a problem with the signal coming from speed sensor.

Good Day.

Reverse light on on the dash and shifts hard when i put in reverse. Check engine lights on also trac off light is on.

sounds like you have burnt tranny fluid and if the fluid is burnt so is the tranny and it is soon to give up
pull dip stick out of tranny and smell if it smells like burnt toast it means the trans is on it's way to the recyclers

Speed control not working, where is the fuse located?

There are three fuses that have to work for the cruise to operate, including the brake lights.Check fuse numbers 53,54, and 59. It can also be affected by the brake switch (and clutch switch - if equipped). The cruise also needs a connection through the brake light bulbs, which means that it will not work if the bulbs are burnt out or if you have LED tail lights. Try pulling up on the brake pedal to see if it is the brake switch. Please post your results. Thanks.
