Question about 1991 Buick LeSabre
Car was parked about 2 years put it on the road fixed minor problems then drove it for one week and it cracked and melted the center coil pack, bought one put it on and ran fine but within less than ten miles cracked and melted the center coil pack again??? Have to replace all three cause there made together and can't afford to buy another to burn up, so can anyone help me out I know little about car electrics and nothing about electronic repairs. Thanks

Check the ECM if it has the number 1228253 on it, this is what is wrong with it. Gm trashed all of these bad ecms. Get a 16198264 as they do not cause a cutting off problem . Get a delco ecm , aftermarket units will give trouble and may be a rebuilt 1228253 which is junk.

the coils are one integrated block with 3 separate segments. the coil pack is mounted to the ignition module and can be unbolted from each other. one can test the coils from the underside of the coilpack with a dvom. having said that your car should still start if one paired coil fails, it would however miss on one or two cylinders. I would suggest to scan for codes, monitor live sensor data to see if you have a valid crank signal, check fuel pressure and spark voltage

If the starter is turning the engine, try re-setting the security system (leave key on till light stops blinking.) If the starter does not turn, you may have some success in re-setting system, if not you need to check battery voltage and voltages in starter system till you find the problem...can be something as simple as a bad connection at the battery. If you need help with further testing, just ask.
