Yes, but... I'm guessing you're likely trying to install a more powerful engine, such as the VW 16v from the later Scirocco mk2 ('83 to '89, and I think the 16v was available from '85 or '86). The basic blocks are very similiar; on earlier engines most if not all bore, stroke, and bearing dimensions are the same in same years and displacement, allowing one to use Audi connecting rods (stronger the the VW rods), and some other assorted benefits. Your first major complication is the crankshaft. The VW engine and transaxle is oriented transversly, the Audi's is fore and aft. Different transaxle and entirely different clutch mechanism. The Audi's clutch is fairly traditional, but the VW's is sort of reversed, with the pressure plate operated by a push rod running throught the center of the mainshaft. Result of which is; the crankshaft nose is different. You'll either need to machine the VW crank to mate to the Audi clutch assembly, or swap the Audi crank into the VW block. For reference, I strongly recommend Bentley Repair manuals; these are basically factory manuals sold to the public. For more and better information as to your specific intent, I suggest you try to find local VW or Audi clubs, or a really experienced VW/ Audi repair shop. A good mechanic who has been worked on these machines for years can probably help you get targeted on exactly what you will need to acquire to do the exchange. As I said, it's helpful that VW and Audi are so closely related, I'd guess it's a fairly simple process, bearing in mind that "simple" in context means an engine teardown and rebuild, installing the correct fuel injection and engine management components in the Fox, etc. And finally, if you do this swap; don't forget that more power brings other complications. You'll want to upgrade your brakes at least, and probably other suspension gear. Hope this helps, good luck.

sounds like a fuse problem,check the fuses,sometimes the radio has a fuse on it you don't know till you take the radio out.

hi this sounds like you have a broken engine mount or rubber bushing has worn , to test this, put handbrake fully on as hard as you can get it, then start the car, put it in 2nd gear, and jump the clutch a bit, if you stand at one side of the car watching the engine to see if it jerks forward or to the side badly, this will show you have a mount gone, obviously get a friend or someone to do the clutch thing as you cant do it at the same time lol, hope this helps

Vw 1.9 tdi engine noise at 800 rpm

if it is a turbo diesel (TDI) I suspect that the injectors need attention
if they are squirting , dribbling or are not atomizing as required then the diesel may be igniting before ignition time causing piston slap (the rattle)

run the tests, on the system.

this is a MAZDA engine. based off their FE.
so you can either buy the Suzuki fsm and read about it or
read up on the mazda TDI controls.
id check compression first. (make sure engine block is ok)
then work controls.

When you run a diesel engine out of fuel ,it needs to be primed in most cases,see if you can locate the fuel filter and and fill it with diesel fuel,And depending on the yr and make, your engine could be demanding higher pressure then you would think is normal from your lift pump in the tank.

I have this problem with my K Reg Audi 80 1.9 tdi...Driving along say 50mph in traffic, take foot from throttle due to traffic flow, put foot back on throttle and nothing happens unless you either let...

you car is fitted with a "no fuel"system,so when you take your foot off "no fuel" goes to the engine untill it reaches 1200 revs.then it will allow fuel to flow to keep tickover/smoothness.(its computer controlled)you need to get your car onto the diagnostic computer,(skoda/seat/vw/audi)so you have the codes/items that need to be sorted.The tdi engine was one of the first engines that VW computerised and it is very reliable/powerful,compared to the peugeot/citroen engine.(briefly,the fault is not just a switch/cable),

My 2001 jetta turns off while running then i have a lot of trouble to maintain on I hear a grinding sound after turning switch

i would recomment replacing the fuel filter. it is the number one reason for TDI running problems. the grinding noise, if it is heard only when cranking could be the starter and also could be a failed dual-mass flywheel.

Any noise from the rear axle can be coming from many different causes, depending upon exactly what you are doing when the noise happens.
Check all mounting points and make sure none of the bushings are loose and that all hardware is tight. Jack up both rear wheels and check for play in the wheel assemblies, Check for any up and down play in the pinion yoke and excessive turning distance in the pinion itself (how far you need to turn the pinion before the rear wheels begin to turn). Also check the driveshaft universal joints for rust or excessive play. You need to find what is worn or broken before you can fix the problem. If you can duplicate the noise while standing still, have someone look underneath while you get it to make the noise. You may actually be able to see what is moving.

Whining noise while accelerating in 1st gear

Check the idler and tensioner pullys for your serpentine belt. I suspect the whining noise heard earlier was due to the fact one was getting a bit stiff or rough turning. When you gave it that extra fuel, the sudden load may have finished it off. Sometimes they lock up, and sometimes they fall apart. Check those items first.

Ignition switch is no good. Staying on at night, not switching power on and off to your engine. I don't mean the key and tumbler, i mean the switch down at the bottom of your steering column.
