SOURCE: MAF Sensor 2004 Dodge Stratus

If your car has a MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor, it would be located in the air delivery tube that runs from the air filter box to the throttle plate assembly on the intake manifold. It will have a wiring connector going to it, also. The MAF does exactly what it is called: It "senses" the volume, or "mass" of the air-flow; thusly it needs to be in the intake air tube. If you do NOT have such a device in the air-tube, you have a MAP sensor, (Manifold Absolute Pressure); this is another way of measuring the same air volume, albeit older technology. You will commonly find this device on the firewall, with a vacuum line running to the intake manifold.

I hope that this sheds some light on your question.

Thanks for choosing FixYa for advice!

SOURCE: Location of O2 Sensors on 1996 Dodge Ram 1500 ?

Follow your exhaust manifold down from engine to exhaust pipes etc, you should see them sticking out, 3"-4" approx.length, with wires coming from them. Some are right on manifold, some further down on exhaust pipes.

SOURCE: I need the location of MAF sensor in a 1998 Dodge

Your vehicle dose not have a maf sensor. They used a map sensor it is on the engine located under the front of the breater where it attaches to the engine.

I believe this engine uses a MAP sensor instead of a MAF sensor. The Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor is located on the firewall on this vehicle with a vacuum line attached to it.

Not still under warranty? Your problem is more than likely the maf sensor.. it's located in the ducting going to the top of the engine. buy a can of crc electrical cleaner from an auto parts store and wash/sprayy rhe sensor clean. do not touch, rub or contact the sensor with any other cleaners han or rags. Let it dry and reinstall everything. You will see the sensor in the ducting. Type MAF sensor in a search box and youcan find some pictures and an explanation of it's design and function.
