This is a very labor intensive job that requires you to take the head off of the block. I would take it into see a engine specialist.

I own a 1998 Chevy Lumina, took it to Advance Auto. I know what one code is what does code P0341 mean and how can it be fixed?

Hi, Im AL the owner of Big As Auto Repair.

P0341 is a code for Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit. The first thing you need to do sense its a circuit code, is to change the Camshaft Position Sensor. I don't know what engine you have, but if its the 3.4 engine the sensor will be directly under the Power Steering Pump. Remove the pump and replace the sensor, clear the codes and hopefully the sensor does the fix. If not it could be in the wiring or engine controller. Hope this helps and please visit my auto-repair-website and give me a thumbs up. http://www.bigasautorepair.com/

WHAT IS THE CODE P0341

This P0341 code basically means that the powertrain control module (PCM) detected a problem with the camshaft signal. The camshaft position sensor (CPS) sends a specific signal to the PCM for Top Dead Center on the compression stroke as well as signals indicating the position of the cam sensor. This is accomplished through a reluctor wheel attached to the camshaft that passes by the cam sensor. Any time that the signal to the PCM is inconsistent with what the signal should be, this code is set. NOTE: this code can also be set by extended cranking periods.
FB.init("dd7d9e9681341cde77587bc6a2029f6f"); OBD-Codes.com on Facebook Symptoms The car will likely run with this code set, as it is often intermittent and also because the PCM can often operate the vehicle in "limp-in/limp-home" mode even with a cam sensor signal problem. There may be no noticeable symptoms other than:
  • Poor fuel economy (if engine runs)
  • Possible no start condition
Causes A code P0341 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
  • Cam sensor wiring routed too close to spark plug wiring (causing interference)
  • Poor wiring connection at cam sensor
  • Poor wiring connection at PCM
  • Bad cam sensor
  • Damaged reluctor wheel
Possible Solutions Often relacing the sensor fixes this code, but not necessarily. Therefore it's important to check the following:
  • Check that the wiring isn't routed too close to any secondary ignition components (coil, spark plug wires, etc.)
  • Visually inspect the wiring at the sensor for any burn marks, discoloration indicative of melting or chafing
  • Visually inspect the cam sensor for damage
  • Visually inspect the reluctor wheel through the cam sensor port (if possible) for any missing teeth or any damage
  • If reluctor isn't visible from outside the engine, visual test can only be done by removing cam shaft or intake manifold (depending on engine design)
  • If all checks out okay, then replace the sensor.

I have an 06 Cobalt and recently had the codes P0340 & P0341. I went to the first mechanic who changed the O2 sensor and told me I did not have a camshaft sensor. I then took it to a second mechanic...

I'm not sure what size your engine is but I believe on the 2.2L the camshaft position sensor is at the front right hand side of the valve cover. The 2.4L is the same but with another cam sensor on the exact opposite (back) side of the valve cover, closest to the firewall.I don't know about it on a 2.0L, probably close to the same. The 2.4L also has two cam actuator solenoids (one for exhaust and one for intake, marked on valve cover) on the left hand side of the valve cover, directly on top. Each part costs in a range of $20-60 depending on where you go. Hope this helps.

I have a 2001 Saturn SL2 and I have a code that does not make any sense to my mechanic. PO341. Also PO442. Any help or suggestions?????

Hello ihatethiscom: My name is Roger and I will help you. The code p0341 Is for the camshaft position sensor There are several things that can cause the code. A intermittent engine misfire to a camshaft sensor problem. I always look for the simple problems first. A lot of people look at the sensor as being the problem not always so. As for the code p0442 this is a fuel evaporator system problem. This has several options when it comes to finding a solution. As I said try to look for the simple solution. A loose fuel cap can set this code also. A dirty fuel vapor canister or a cracked vapor line could cause the code also. What the code is saying is there is a small vacuum leak to the fuel tank. Should you need further help please just ask. Please rate the answer you received. Thank You for using Fix YA. Roger
