SOURCE: car doesn't have any power

This happened to me and yes it was caused by a timing belt i replaced it and guess what? My car took forever to pick up speed but once i hit 30mi than it was fine. So i found that one valve was bended so i had to rebuild the heads now its fine one way to find out if you have a faulty valve is by unpluging one of the spark plugs wires you are probably running on 3 cylinders thats why it has no power until it reaches some speed then its fine but when you stop and try to go again it does the same thing i recomed 4 you to go check the heads i bet thats what is wrong with your car. Youll end up paying arround 500 bucks! ! Parts and labor but its a. 1990 celica worth it? Yes its the best car i have ever owned!! And if it happens again i will fix it i love my celica! !

1990 toyota 4runner knocking noise from air intake will turnover but wont start

Knocking noise in the air intake or do you mean a lifter noise, because you let it sit the lifter are not charged up or solidified,so you dont get adequate compression when you turn it over.if you have fuel and spark thats fine what about compression, noise from the air intake make me wonder if the timing belt is intacted.

1. check your fuel filter and replace
2. this sounds to me like you are losing power due to your valves being out of adjustment, valve lash adjustment should be checked at every tune up on this motor
3. a manual on this vehicle would be a great asset to you

It loses power on acceleration and serious loss of power on hills

sounds like a clogged fuel filter. you need to have the engine pressure checked for leaks, you can rent the pressure checker at autozone, it connects to ur radiator and u pump pressure into the cooling system if u find water leaking around the head u know u have a blown head gasket. if ok then check the cylinder compression should beable to rent this also. it screws into the spark plug holes has a gauge on it. alternator problem w/ the light is probaly you need to tighten the belt.hope this helps!!!

Car loses power espesially on high way struggles on hills even with momentum only recently happened

timing could be off plugged fuel filter or failing fuel pump my best guess would be plugged cat converter i have seen it a hundred times generally runs good up to about 30 mph or so but on hills it wants to stop try un bolting exhaust before converter and test driving its loud but a quick sure test

Will not start

potential water in line. Red, plastic bottle of Gas treatment first. STP gas treatment highly rec. Definitely make sure you do not have any more gas leaks since the system relies on pressure. Any loss in pressure results in loss of fuel to injectors/carb. Start with the gas treatment first... go from there. Sounds retarded but believe me, this has helped countless people... including myself multiple times.

Afterwards, you will need to think on terms of electrical ignition problems:

HV coil

HV coil wire

clogged filter or reversed direction filter [recheck even though it is new]
