You prob need a new cv axle if it has never been changed then you have gotten use from 1994 till now. They esually dont last that long. Most go out around 80k

SOURCE: left side tie rod end

Hi Bobby69d
I think what you're talking of is the rack end....which you'll need to replace...depending on where you are in the world, it's probable that the parts your talking about will come in sets of rack ends and tie rod ends together....You'll definitely need to replace that broken part.....when you're dealing with that one test the tie rod end for play...(that's the part which fits into the wheel side of the unit)....Once finished on the side your working on, check the other side too and replace were you need to....You would be doing yourself a favour to check the ball joints too....Those are the balled joints that allow the steering wheels to turn left and right....On your vehicle there are two on each wheel.....upper and lower.....If any of them break when you're travelling at high speed, you can end up in hospital or worse.... You may also be putting the lives of those around you at risk too

We want you around for a long time yet....Have a good happy long Life

SOURCE: how to change an inner tie rod end on a honda civic 1.5

you must remove or slide the inner tie rod boot outward on the rod and then thread the tie rod out of the steering rack. there is a section of the tie rod on the inside of the ball joint that has flat spots to get a open end wrench onto. to check your tie rods, simply jack the wheel off of the ground, grab the either side of the tire, and wiggle it towards and away from you. if you feel any play at all the tie rods must be replaced. also a god indication is when the front tires start to wear excessivly on the inside or outside edges.

as for the cv axle, it has a retainer ring on the end of the splined shaft. all thats reqired is to seat the splines in the transaxle (transmission) and the tap (shouldnt take too much) the outer end of the axle with a mallet or hammer. it will pop into place.

SOURCE: My 2003 Honda Accord failed inspection because of

Interesting. First of all, I have never heard of such a thing being included on safety inspection. It almost sounds like your repair facility trying to drum up work. Secondly, most tie rods can be repaired by simply changing the ends. And yes, if you do this proceedure, an alignment is in order. I hope you find this very helpful!

I have a consistent clicking noise from the front driver side on my 2009 honda civic ideas?

Is it when your wheels are turned left on take off? sounds like drive shaft. check cv boot for split. if you know a mechanic they will know if it is the drive shaft as soon as they drive it. If it is a crook drive shaft theoreticly it can not come apart but very annoying & embarassing.
