We cant locate the computer on the 2000 sc1 already replaced fuel filter in tank etc.. but it just tested that the cpu is toast

A competent mechanic that can't find a pcm/ecu ?
Seems to be in plain site next to the battery!!
You have all sorts of info on the internet telling you
they never fail on a saturn s series & to clean the battery
cables both ends,clean fuse holder,grounding straps etc.
Codes don't tell you something is bad,only proper testing
& referring to trouble charts will

Right under the master brake cylinder, its really hard to replace it. It has 2 screws, one bolt on top and the bottom one needs to be screwed off under the car

SOURCE: fuel filter for 1998 Saturn SC1
Under the car, by the fuel tank. Drivers side, just in front of the rear wheel. It also houses the fuel pressure regulator. It is expensive, and has a 100,000 mile replacement interval.

You are looking for the constant control relay module- ( CCRM ) see below. The pump will be located inside the fuel tank.Most of the time , its the pump and not the relay but, it wouldn't hurt to check the relay out. Teh relay is housed in the CCRM. Its located behind the engine coolant reservoir.

the fuel filter is located on the drivers side under neath where the rear seat would be connected to the frame. relieve fuel system pressure,disconnect negative terminal from the battery,raise rear of vehicleand support it securily on jackstands,detach fuel lines from the filter,some have quick connect . squeeze plastic tabs to pull the connector apart,if it has threaded fiting unscrew the fuel line from the filter.
