2000 chevrolet malibu headlight replacement problem

Having trouble replacing headlight bulb. cannot remove headlight housing from car, removed all visible screws and plastic clips and it wont come out. Have haynes repair manual, but description and pic does not match car i have. 2x checked to make sure I have correct manual and description. Is it possible that it is stuck, and I should force out? Is it possible that there are additional screws or clips located under the car or elsewhere?

Need to know how to change break light bulb

Open the truck & remove philips head screw that is located to the left of the tail light housing in the trunk lid weatherstripping housing area. Next unscrew the trunk lining screw to fold back the trunk lining to get at the two plastic wing nuts that hold the light housing.

Unscrew these two wing nuts and slide the housing out, then remove the bulbs and replace. Bulbs come out similarly to how you'd replace the front headlight bulbs (unplug, twist counter-clockwise to unlock and remove old bulb, replace with new bulb and turn clockwise to lock, plug back in).

Having trouble accessing headlight assembly to change a burned out bulb removed 5 screws and clips but still seems to be held on place

You shouldn't have to remove any screws. Look behind the headlight assembly and you will see a socket that you push in, turn and it should come out so you can replace this little light bulb, not the whole assembly.

Good Luck

Replace low beam on 2000 LHS

The headlight housing must be removed to access the bulbs on the back of the housing. HOWEVER!!! you must take loose the bumper on the side you are replacing. To do this you also have to take loose the inner finder and turn you wheel sharply in the opposite direction of the bulb to be replaced. There is a 10mm nut you will have to remove inside as well as multiple plastic fasteners along the inner finder and across the front under the hood. Bulb just twist out to remove once the housing is removed. Also, resist the urge to use a very large hammer. Use caution when pulling the plastic bumper out where the 10mm nut was removed, the stud can easily scratch the paint while working the housing out of its socket.

2000 chevy malibu headlight replacement

To remove the headlight assy, there are two black tabs above the housing that you pull up about an inch and that will release the assy, so you can pull it out and access the bulbs. The bulbs will twist out of the housing. Be sure not to touch the new bulb with your skin. The oil on your fingers will shorten the life of the bulb.
