Re: my 1996 pontaic grandam shakes when i brake
Sounds like warped front disc brake rotors and/or out of round rear drums. Some also had rear disc brakes also. Have brakes inspected. Have steering and suspension looked at also.Loose steering or suspension wont cause a vibration but will exaggerate bad brakes or tires.Always be sure your vehicle can stop and steer safely! Hope this helps. Please rate me.

Then you found the problem its the brake switch at thhe brake pedal the solution is a replacement of the switch before you attempt check the fuse in the engine compartment and under the dash compartment if its good go ahead with the pedal switch (by the way the plastic bushing tend to strip apart )
Sometimes a caliper or wheel cylinder will sieze, usually temporarily. This puts twice the amount of pressure on the other side of the system. Recommendation: turn your car on, take off the parking brake, and press really hard on the brake pedal. This will usually break the offending piston free, and you will be good to go for a long time. If this doesn't work, then you'll have to figure out which one it is, and change it out. Hope it works for you.
