There is a flat spot at the front of the right side (passenger side) cylinder head will have the last 6 of the Vin and letter code at the end of it for id purposes. You will see it looking down from the top of the motor.

i have a 2001y reg transit tipper and i think the starter motor is going when i go to start it like grinds then some times it starts perfect

SOURCE: the fuse has gone on
The fuse must be in the main fuse box. The position and function of the fuses is normally marked on the inside of the fuse box cover and also in the owner's handbook. If you don't come right with these, work your way through the fuses looking for a blown one. To ease your search the tailight fuse it should be around 15 to 20 amps.

What's with this engine # thing?
There must be 4 or 5 of those questions here today
On your dash you have an engine code as part of the VIN#
Unless your buying a new engine block, why would you need that,
if one even exists?
In 48 years I have never needed that to work on ,buy or repair
You have to mean VIN engine number
