You need a repair shop to diagnose all the issues

You know that

You have a check light on,so you also know that issue
has to be resolved

    I am on limited finance due to an injury so I can't spend $85 for diagnostic if I can fix it myself. The check engine light goes off after 2 or 3 minutes of running but it still stalls driving with no check engine lights coming on. Just shuts off. I also have to keep my RPM's up most times with one foot on the gas and one on the brake.

    You can not fix yourself without the knowledge to diagnose any vehicle issue & most likely need professional test equip just to find the issues

    I know you are right but being financially challenged I always hope to fix it with Super Glue and Duct Tape. I know thats not going to work now. Thanks for the help and I'll everyone posted and maybe it'll help them if they come up with the same problem. Why didn't I buy a 69 Camaro SS? Thanks again for the help.

    The 69 would be too rusted to be worth while unfortunately & too expensive I had a 65 vette new-- back in the day

    Thanks for all the help, it goes in the shop Friday. I cleaned the PCV last night, didn't help but the car wont get me to the parts store to replace it. Although it rattles around fine it is filthy. Now I'm not getting my check engine light but it still dies. Hopefully the shop can tell me something, they have a great reputation. Thank again

    Well my MC was towed into the shop 1/11. So far they found Squirrels had eaten a wire harness but they are still checking for other stuff since it\'s not running yet. I\'m sitting on my porch with a BB gun to get dinner for tonight. I\'ll keep everyone posted. I\'m sure the eaten wires aren\'t all the problems.

Very common problem is about a dime size hole wearing in the rubber elbow on the PCV valve located on the driver side rear of the intake manifold.

SOURCE: 2001 chevy monte carlo is overheating when driving

Hi;
If your engine cools down when moving fast, you either have a problem with your water pump or your electric fans that cool off your radiator and a/c condenser. This is controlled by a temperature switch, but these fans should kick on instantly when A/C is selected.

2001 chevy monte carlo 3.8 liter v-6: starts fine

is your check engine light on ? if not check the fuel filter it may be plugged. it is also possible that your fuel pressure is low, is it start it then it bogs and dies, for you may have a defective idle air mixture solenoid, this will not call up a code there for no check engine light, hope this helps , let me know good luck

2005 monte carlo seems to run rough / misfire when warm.

Remove your ignition module and take it to a parts house to be tested. This is common behavior for a failing module after it gets warm. Have them check it several times to insure it gets hot during testing.

01 monte carlo securty & battey light problm

I had the same problem. Also, "service traction system" warning light, "service engine soon", and "trac off" warnings. Audio system locks every time the voltmeter goes flat. I expected an expensive repair bill. On a hunch, I pulled both battery terminals, scrubbed all points of contact vigorously with a wire "toothbrush" and baking soda paste. (They didn't look like they needed it at all) Reconnected, tightened securely, started engine , and everything is back to normal. Zero cost, 10 minutes of your time.
