L200 oil in coolant tank

very possible you have a bad oil cooler, i wouldn't operate the vehicle until it is taken care of, the cooling system will have to be completely cleaned out.

Does a 2004 trailblazer have a trans cooler

Sometimes you can see the cooler in front of the radiator. Some cooler are inside the radiator. You can check the bottom of the radiator for additional lines going in and out, that is a sign of an internal cooler.

I have R&R the tranny at 140K because the OD went out. Now 15000 miles later on this used tranny - it has gone out again.

Sorry to hear about your trans problems.
Drawback of going used is that you dont really know the condition of it.
Did you flush out the transmission cooler? this may have been partially clogged and causing trans to overheat. Need to be sure to flush out with a cleaner to remove any debris i would also recommend an auxillary cooler.HEAT KILLS TRANNYS!!!!
Most likely the unit you installed was about wore out and just went out.
I would recommend having it overhauled or going with a goodwrench reman transmission this will have a 3yr 100k mile warranty. Even if you install yourself and it goes out in a year you take the vehicle to dealer and they repair under warranty. A little more money now may save a lot later.
let me know if i can assist you further

Are there any upgrades to 4.7 dodge engines that fixes the oil sludge problems? Is there an upgrade to the oil pickup tube. existing one seems small to me. I am overhauling the engine and would like to...

Nothing other then regular oil change intervals. Consider a synthetic oil if sludge is a problem. Normally sludge is from excessive heat or poor manitenance... If really working your motor try an external oil cooler/trans cooler. This will help with the fluids

yeah i would say the tranny is shot. chances are the fluid was old and you burned the gears inside. in the future have an extra tranny cooler installed. this will keep the fluid temp down. hope this helps. rate this please... thanks

i had the same problem after spending $500.00 for toyota to look at it they didnt fix it and suggested i it was the auto trans and i should get it overhauled costing thousands. i didnt believe them and started to do some of my own research into the problem. the coolant temp sensor at the rear of the intake manifold tells the ecu when the engine is at correct operating temp then allows the auto trans shift into overdrive. to rule out any problems with the auto trans i disconnected the plug to the temp sensor and went for a drive when the engine was cold and it shifted straight away into overdrive no problems. you can't leave this disconnected because the engine is hard to start when cold as the temp sensor also tells the ecu that it is cold and allows the cold start injector to inject more fuel into the engine on cold start overcome this i cut the wire to the sensor plug and installed a switch which i installed into the centre i start the car flick the swith use overdrive then swith back to normal after car has warmed up . engine fault light appers on dash when switched on but doesnt matter. i have had this modification for 2 years now no problems.
