Question about 2001 Ford Escape
My elderly neighbor cheked her oil bu pulled the dipstick tube out. We canot find where it goes back in. Is there a diagram i can look at
Actually, the dipstick fits into a metal tube and that tube can be found (usually) at the front or side of the engine. The tube diameter is approximately equal to the width of the dipstick. There aren't very many tubes under the hood that match that description

I ask that same question about my 2007 and was told that the main reason for the lite oil weight was to give better gas mileage. Still though I never changed because I got over tinkering with the manufactures specs. in my hot rod days. Stay with the 5-20W.

you didn't say which engine so here it is for both
2001 Ford Escape 2WD
2.0 liter DOHC L4 VIN "B"
2001 Ford Escape 2WD
3.0 liter V-6 VIN "1"

B1 means the sensor is located on the same bank of the engine that has the #1 cylinder. B2 is located on the opposite bank.
S1 means the sensor is located BEFORE the catalytic converter
S2 means the sensor is located AFTER the catalytic converter
You didn't say which engine you have, so I've included the diagrams of both 4 cyl and 6 cyl so you can see the banks
