If the standard bleeding procedures do not produce an acceptable pedal you will need a scantool that can activate the automated ABS bleed and a pressure bleeding system.
To bleed the brakes use the standard pattern of RR,LR,RF,LF

ABS Automated Bleed Procedure
Caution: Refer to Brake Fluid Irritant Caution in Service Precautions.
Notice: Refer to Brake Fluid Effects on Paint and Electrical Components Notice in Service Precautions.
Important: In most circumstances a base brake bleed is all that is required for most component replacements (such as wheel cylinders, calipers, brake tubes, and master cylinder) except for brake pressure modulator valve (BPMV) replacement.
The following automated ABS bleed procedure is required when one of the following occur:
Manual bleeding at the wheel cylinders does not achieve the desired pedal height or feel.
BPMV replacement
Extreme loss of brake fluid has occurred.
Air ingestion is suspected.
If none of the above conditions apply, use standard bleed procedures.
The auto bleed procedure is used on BOSH 5.3 equipped vehicles. This procedure uses a scan tool to cycle the system solenoid valves and run the pump in order to purge the air from the secondary circuits. These secondary circuits are normally closed off, and are only opened during system initialization at vehicle start up and during ABS operation. The automated bleed procedure opens these secondary circuits and allows any air trapped inside the BPMV to flow out toward the wheel cylinders or calipers where it can be purged out of the system.
Automated Bleed Procedure
Preliminary Inspection
Inspect the battery for full charge, repair the battery and charging system, as necessary.
Connect a scan tool to the data link connector (DLC) and select current and history DTCs. Repair any DTCs prior to performing the ABS bleed procedure.
Inspect for visual damage and leaks and repair, as needed.
Preliminary Setup
Raise and vehicle on a suitable support.
Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
Remove all 4 tires, if necessary.
Connect the pressure bleeding tool according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Turn the ignition switch to RUN position, engine off.
Connect a scan tool and establish communications with the ABS system.
Pressurize the bleeding tool to 206 - 241 kPa (30 - 35 psi) .
Performing the Automated Bleed Procedure
Notice: The Auto Bleed Procedure may be terminated at any time during the process by pressing the EXIT button. No further Scan Tool prompts pertaining to the Auto Bleed procedure will be given. After exiting the bleed procedure, relieve bleed pressure and disconnect bleed equipment per manufacturers instructions. Failure to properly relieve pressure may result in spilled brake fluid causing damage to components and painted surfaces.
With the pressure bleeding tool at 206 - 241 kPa (30 - 35 psi) , and all bleeder screws in closed position, select Automated Bleed Procedure on the scan tool and follow the instructions.
The first part of the automated bleed procedure will cycle the pump and front release valves for one minute. After the cycling has stopped the scan tool will enter a cool down mode and display a 3 minute timer. The auto bleed will not continue until this timer expired, and cannot be overridden.
During the next step, the scan tool will request the technician to open one of the bleeder screws. The scan tool will then cycle the respective release valve and pump motor for one minute.
The scan tool will repeat step 3 for the remaining bleeder screws.
With the bleeder tool still attached to the vehicle and maintaining 241 kPa (35 psi) , the scan tool will instruct the technician to independently open each bleeder screw for approximately 20 seconds. This should allow any remaining air to be purged from the brake lines.
When the automated bleed procedure is completed the scan tool will display the appropriate message.
Install all 4 tires, if necessary refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
Remove pressure from the pressure bleeding tool and then disconnect the tool from the vehicle.
Depress the brake pedal to gage pedal height and feel. Repeat steps 1-8 until the pedal is acceptable.
Remove the scan tool from the DLC connector.
Install.
Lower the vehicle.
Inspect the brake fluid level in master cylinder.
Road test the vehicle while making sure the brake pedal remains high and firm.
If the vehicle is equipped with a traction control system (TCS), the scan tool will cycle both the ABS and the TCS solenoid valves. This bleed procedure is the same as above.

How do i bleed antilock brakes


This is best done with 2 people , 1 to operate brake pedal the other to open and close blleed nipples at wheel. Make sure that fluid reservoir is kept full during bleeding. Start with wheels closest to reservoir. Open bleed nipple and press brake pedal repeatedly until pressure increases. Do each wheel in turn topping up with fresah fluid as needed.

What do the capped lines on the ehcu do................my brother in law(so called mech.) told me that they were buttons that you had to hold in while bleeding the unit but when my buddy and me went to do...


Bleeder screws , If you haven't replaced the unit you don't need to do anything with them . Don't need to have the vehicle running , just bleed the brakes normally . If you have replaced the Electro-Hydraulic Control Unit you need a factory scan tool to cycle the unit solenoids
Important:
• Use the two-person bleed procedure under the following conditions:
- Installing a new Electro-Hydraulic Control Unit (EHCU) or new Brake Pressure Modulator Valve (BPMV).
- Air is trapped in the valve body
• Do not drive the vehicle until the brake pedal feels firm.
• Do not reuse brake fluid that is used during bleeding.
• Use the vacuum, the pressure and the gravity bleeding procedures only for base brake bleeding.
Raise the vehicle in order to access the system bleed screws.
Bleed the system at the right rear wheel first.
Install a clear hose on the bleed screw.
Immerse the opposite end of the hose into a container partially filled with clean DOT 3 brake fluid.
Open the bleed screw 1/2 to one full turn.
Slowly depress the brake pedal. While the pedal is depressed to its full extent, tighten the bleed screw.
Release the brake pedal and wait 10-15 seconds for the master cylinder pistons to return to the home position.
Repeat the previous steps for the remaining wheels. The brake fluid which is present at each bleed screw should be clean and free of air.
This procedure may use more than a pint of fluid per wheel. Check the master cylinder fluid level every four to six strokes of the brake pedal in order to avoid running the system dry.
Press the brake pedal firmly and run the Scan Tool Automated Bleed Procedure. Release the brake pedal between each test.
Bleed all four wheels again using Steps 3-9. This will remove the remaining air from the brake system.
Evaluate the feel of the brake pedal before attempting to drive the vehicle.
Bleed the system as many times as necessary in order to obtain the appropriate feel of the pedal.

How do you bleed a hydraulic clutch on golf mk4


Hi Riaan, This is a two or three person job. Make sure the reservoir is full and kept full during the whole operation. open the bleeding nipple on the slave cylinder until clear fluid is seen running from the opening. Close the nipple and press the clutch pedal from the top of its travel to the floor four times and while the pedal is fully depressed open and close the bleeding nipple. Repeat until clutch pedal pressure feels correct. Make sure the reservoir is full and off you go. Regards John

I have a1984 F 150 with all new brake parts except the proportioning valve and some of the hard lines which were in good shape. I still have poor pedal pressure and weak brakes after bleeding ,I'm lost


Your not bleeding the system,period

Your working alone or something

Pumping the pedal for no reason
or gravity bleeding,which is it

How are you performing the bleeding?

That is your only problem

Whats the proper way to bleed the breaks


Bleeding the Brake System (ABS) Auto Bleed Procedure NOTE: Perform a manual bleeding procedure. If the brake pedal height and firmness results are not achieved, perform the auto bleed procedure below.
  1. Raise and support the vehicle.
  2. Remove the tire and wheel assemblies.
  3. Inspect the battery state of charge.
  4. Install a scan tool.
  5. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  6. With the scan tool, establish communications with the ABS/TCS system. Select Special Functions from the ABS/TCS menu. Select Automated Bleed from the Special Functions menu.
  7. Bleed the base brake system.
  8. Follow the scan tool directions until the desired brake pedal height is achieved.
  9. If the bleed procedure is aborted, a malfunction exists. Perform the following steps before resuming the bleed procedure:
  10. If a DTC is detected, refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List and diagnose the appropriate DTC.
  11. If the brake pedal feels spongy, perform the conventional brake bleed procedure again.
  12. When the desired pedal height is achieved, press the brake pedal in order to inspect for firmness.
  13. Remove the scan tool.
  14. Install the tire and wheel assemblies.
  15. Inspect the brake fluid level.
  16. Road test the vehicle while inspecting that the pedal remains high and firm.

  12. Repeat the procedure until the pedal is acceptable.
  13. Remove the scan tool from the DLC connector.
  14. Safely lower the vehicle.
  15. Inspect the brake fluid level in master cylinder.
  16. Road test the vehicle while ensuring the brake pedal remains high and firm.
  17. If the vehicle is equipped with a traction control system (TCS), the scan tool will cycle both the ABS and TCS solenoids valves. This bleed procedure is the same as above.

My clutch is not angaging need to see how can i bleed


Hydraulic Clutch System BLEEDING The clutch system can be bled using a pressure bleeder. Follow the instructions that come with the pressure bleeder for the proper pressure bleeding procedure. The maximum line pressure while pressure bleeding must not exceed 36 psi (248 kPa). NOTE: To bleed a clutch manually requires the assistance of a second person, a section of hose that is compatible with brake fluid (preferably clear) and fits the slave cylinder bleed screw snugly and a container to catch the fluid that is bled through the system. As brake hydraulic fluid easily absorbs moisture, always use fresh fluid when bleeding a hydraulic system.
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
  2. To bleed the system perform the following:
    1. Top off the hydraulic fluid reservoir using a fluid that meets the standards of the vehicle's hydraulic system.
    2. Open the clutch slave cylinder bleed screw and press the clutch pedal to the floor and hold the pedal down.
    3. Close the clutch slave cylinder bleed screw.
    4. Release the clutch pedal.
    5. Check the hydraulic fluid level and top off as necessary.
  3. Repeat the above steps until the discharged fluid is clean and no air bubbles appear during the bleeding process.

Rear brake bleeding problem


need a little more information.

if you are trying to bleed the brakes you can have someone push the pedal while you loosen the line just enough to allow air to escape. When it stops popping and cracking and only fluid comes out tighten it back up with pressure on the pedal. pump the pedal before loosening line to allow pressure to build up.

or by a vacuum pump and you can do it yourself $10-$40

04 Focus SVT- All brakes will bleed out except the right rear..??


Have somone help you as you bleed the brakes. Have them pump the pedal 3 times and hold the pedal down with constant pressure while you crack the bleed valve open to the problem caliper. Don't let them release the pedal until you have closed the bleeder valve. Continue this process until you have fluid coming out without air. Periodacillay check the master cylinder to be sure it remains full enough so as not to allow more air in because the resivouir ran to low during the bleeding process. If when you are done and the brake light continues to be on then you will need to bleed the proportioning valve until the system balances out on line pressure.
