No oil pressure or a sensor is defective.

SOURCE: Oil light keeps coming on but doesn't stay on.

Your sensor may be going bad, or you may have a leak somewhere. The light usually triggers if it detects a low pressure situation caused by a leak.

Could be a bad oil pressure switch, or a bad oil pump. Both will cause this issue. Hope it is the switch b/c the oil pump is a costly repair.

SOURCE: oil sending unit on 2004 chrysler sebring V6

Should be located close to the oil filter. It will screw in like a spark plug. It has a harness plug. Easy to change, save yourself $70 in labor. You will need a fairly large wrench to remove

It might take 2 or 3 gas fill-ups before the light goes off. Don't worry.

What does the oil pressure light do ?

the oil pressure light operates on a sending unit mounted near/around the top of the engine on an oil galley. when the oil pressure reaches critically low levels (typically between 10-20 psi) the light will come on to indicate the problem. usually this is due to a low oil level. IMPORTANT- do no operate.run your motor with low oil pressure, this can cause irreversible damage to your engine! check your oil level if you are full on oil and the oil is not old (if its really old and gotten too hot a time or two it can become thin and loose viscosity) then you need to check your oil sender first as its the cheapest to replace (oil pumps dont often fail) reply to this solution and i can help walk you through this . hope this helps!

I bought a 1998 Chrysler Sebring LXi recently and it didn't come with an owners manual... How many quarts of oil does the engine need?

Buy 5 qts of oil. Drain the oil and replace the filter. Add 4 qts and start the engine. let it idle for a few minutes. Shut it off and recheck the level on the dipstick, use the last qt to finish adding to full if necessary.

Oil light comes on at stop light. I checked the oil...its full

Oil light comes on due to low pressure, not oil volume. If this has chrysler 2.7 V6 they are known to have oil sludge build-up problem

2004 chrysler sebring transmission was leaking but now has stop

Keep a close eye on the level, and watch for drops in driveway etc. Even try placing something under the transmission area if you have to, like cardboard or plywood. Good chance it didn't cure itself, but stranger things have happened I guess. Hope you used Mopar transmission oil to re-fill it. believe it or not, I don't work for Chrysler but have heard many a story about chrysler transmissions acting up because of wrong fluid in them, even when lube places tell you it's o.k to use something else. Just a heads up.
