Try spraying a little WD 40 on the hood latch. Sometimes it gets stuck and just needs to be loosened up a bit.

Hood latch won't latch when closing

Raise hood, have some one go pull hood latch and you look at latch and see if it releases,if it doesn't then cable may need replacing,I would'nt completely shut hood cause you may not get back open, also check hood latches bolts and latch for something bent or broken.

95 audi hood latch won't release

Common problem on MANY cars. Try getting an helper to "thump" on the hood while you pull the cable. If this works to get it to pop up, I would recommend lubricating the hood latch assembly with some lithium spray lube before closing it again.

98 crown victoria hood won't latch

Let's starts at the beginning, inside the car. When you pull the release cable, is it moving freely? Sometimes cables dry up. This may be your issue. You can buy "cable ease" which is a graphite lube. *Its can be messy so be careful and bring plenty of rags!!!* Follow the directions on the package and you should do fine.
Under the hood you have 2 latches, the one which holds it closed tight and another attached to the little handle that's under the hood. The one that holds it tight is the one attached to the cable/handle inside. Find the latch and spray it with a penetrating oil (WD40 or Blaster work well for me) You may want a friend's help for this part. You'll want to spray it, trigger the mechanism with a screwdriver or similar and then have a friend pull the handle inside. You'll need to repeat this a number of times until the mechanism is moving freely. I recommend spraying the latch with white (lithium) lube to protect it and keep this from happening again. You can spray and move the secondary latch in a similar manner to fix and maintain it.
*** I'd recommend trying the latches under the hood first***
Out of the two, I've found it more likely the source of the problem and easier to fix as well. Good luck and please let me know how you made out!

I can't get hood open to my buick regal gs

WHen I have a car with a hood that won't open, I go thru the grille. Disassemble the grille off the front of the car, and anything else in the way until you can get a hand/screwdriver/pry bar/etc. on the
lock release, and reach up and release it. What happens with hood release mechanisms is that they experience rough use (hood open/close cycles combined with road vibration), and become loose. Once they're loose even a little (even as little as a quarter inch), the hood won't open.

2003 LANCER 2.OLT=REPLACED BATTERY,REPLACED 100AMP FUZE@BATT=CAR TURNS OVER BUT WON'T START! A JUMP START WAS ATTEMPTED BUT BELIEVE THEY CROSSED THE CABLES! HELP !

..@briver916...Recheck all the fuses and relays in the 2 boxes under the hood and another one of fuses and relays panel inside the car, front of the driver seat, behind the pull out box next to the hood release handle..Under the hood check inside the one with 8" black square box;Check # 1 slot fuse, it is 60 amps for (+B ), check # 8 slot fuse for Engine control 20 amps, check # 15 slot Fuel pump 15 amps..And check another skinny black box lie next to that box, it has relay F, that is Engine control, check that also...And inside the car fuses panel; Check # 1 slot fuse 10 amps that for Ignition coil, # 8 slot Engine control 7.5 amps, # 12 slot Engine control 7.5 amps..After that recheck the battery post, that maybe needed re-tight..Don't force to tight too much, that will crack and broke the post and the plastic battery body...And check all the ignition wires and spark plugs that are tight or needed to replace..And check all the vacuum lines that are loose and leaks suctions or sometimes they are crack open by long ages..By the way check and recheck all those other fuses and relay for make sure they are good...Believe me that not hard to figure out those problems..You did everything rights so far..That one 100 amps fuse at the + battery post cable was connect to alternator for recharging your battery and give power to other items when car was running..Below that post, the middle cable was connect to the starter motor and the bottom cable was connect to that 8" black fuses and relays box under the hood...
