Engine occassionally stalls

Hi
I've just bought a gorgeous 1990 MX5 Eunos, and although it sounds brilliant, when you rev it- if you let it go back to idle it sometimes custs out. Has anyone got any ideas? I'd be really grateful as I have no idea what it is? Dont worry that I'm a girl, I know my way round an engine!

Thanks in advance

it may be the air intake box/tune (I don't know what it is called). The motor mounts wear out, then the motor vibrates and the fan belt pully wears a hole in it, very small, but enough to change the air intake pressure, then it stalls when you are not giving enough gas...I am looking for a stock replacement part. It is fixed only with tape for now.
Hope this is it for you too.

1991 mazda mx5 eunos roadster radiator clogged with oil

Your radiator is leaking internally, leaking transmission fluid from the transmission fluid cooler into the radiator where the coolant is. You can't fix it, just get the radiator replaced and then flush the coolant.

Hi, I just bought a tired Subaru Leone (1990) Station Wagon. Everything feels OK for the age of the car... but it accelerates like a boat. The engine seems great and isn't miss-firing. The clutch bites...

I think you`ve answered your own question.
The clutch sounds as though its on its last legs.
I would take it down to a local car mechanic ask him for a verdict on the clutch and anything else that needs doing.Remember you don`t have to take his offer,we are in the day and age of haggling.
Once its up and running subarus are so reliable a good choice of car.

Mx5, possible misfire, lack of power in low revs

Hi this sounds very messy if somebody has made a mess of things the only way to check it out is to get it to a reputable garage and get it checked over ,did you have the head pressure tested as a common fault with these cars is internal cracking of the head which can often look like a head gasket failure the only solution then is a complete new head good luck with this

Many MX5 owners convert the extra brake light on the boot lid to a fog light. Has this been done to yours?

1990 1.5l wont rev past 3500rpm's

Honestly I wish I could offer you more info, if it revs now that eliminates the convertor, only I can figure is when you got it to rev you were "blowing the soot out" LOL I hope I have helped you some if so please rate me accordingly.
