It is not the ECU it is your BeCM. It is not allowing the alarm to go to sleep mode. Very common problem.

Kia Rio5 2009 No spark on any spark plugs. Code P0339 showed up after i scanned, so i changed the camshaft sensor. Still no spark. Verified all relays. Could a weak battery, key chip, ecu.. ?

This one is kind of hard to answer. But I'll do my best with some suggestion.
First, let's find out if the ECU is OK. Put the key in the ignition and turn it without cranking the car, check the display, if you see the check engine lit up, then the ECU is fine. If it doesn't lit up, then your problem is the ECU.
Also, check the spark plug cables, check the distributor cap.
Check the relays, I'm not sure if any of the relays is related to the engine.
Also, make sure the alarm is working fine. If it's faulty, maybe it won't let any current goo thru.

No spark at cylinders 1&4

Considering the whole system runs with a common crank sensor, the first place I would test would have also been the coil. If these have been tested and are ok, I would start looking at the ecu. The signal to the coil is generated by the ecu and unless there is a break in wiring, it is more than likely the problem.

If you have access to a wiring diagram, check for the coil trigger signal from the ecu. If this is present at the ecu, problem is wiring. If no signal at ecu then that's your problem.

Keep in mind that cyl 1&4 and 2&3 fire together off common coils in the coil pack so the fact that those cylinders are faulty together, also leads to ecu.

I know the fiat's have a history of problems with ecu- especially if the vehicles are valet'd and the engine pressure cleaned.

Please give us feedback regarding what you find- hope I led u in the right direction!

How to fix code 12 on toyota conquest 1994 model

Hi there:
Means that there is no RPM signal going from the distributor to the ECU (Engine Control Unit). You probably can't get your engine to run.

Possible causes are:
- No signal from NE or G to the igniter
- No signal from the igniter to the ECU
- Faulty ECU
- Open in igniter to ECU signal circuits
- Loss of power or ground to the igniter

If you can hear that the starter motor is turning without turning the engine, most likely your solenoid has gone bad, or there's a bad connection somewhere.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Just bought a 1993 Dodge Stealth. It started the first day and sounded and looked good. The next day it wouldn't start and we tried jumping it, but it wouldn't start with a jump. We checked the fluids and...

My money says it is the ECU (engine control unit) early 90's Mitsubishi's are known for poor capacitors in their ECUs. If the car is not starting, if it has spark but no fuel my first money is that of the ECU. If it has fuel but no spark I expect something within the electronics.

Is this engine the SOHC or DOHC.

If you need to replace the ECU there is a MD number you need to use to match the proper unit. The ECU is located under the stereo, remove the two interior flaps (carpet strips) that cover the shifter are. The ECU has 3 large electical plugs, remove these and unbolt the (3) 10MM bolts to get the ECU out

I have owned and replace three Mitsubishi veichles with bad ECU, one of which is my son's 93 Dodge Stealth with 3.0 SOHC.

Please let me know if this had assisted you.

Thanks,
Tom

Hi

This is a rarther complex problem you have here, because all the facts are based on what the workshop told you. So the only thing i can really offer you here is my opinion.

1- When replacing the spark plugs on a vehicle it makes common sense to replace all 6 spark plugs instead of just the one or 2 faulty ones, in the regard of preventative maintanance it would have been best to replace all six from the start. especially if they where starting to act up.

2- Cylinder six delivering 15 bar i dont understand because your spark and ecu is not measured with pressure it either delivers spark or not, in some instances they coils or spark plugs may misfire under load but have nothing to do with fuel pressure or compression.

3- For the workshop to blow coil number six is highly unlikley if it did blow it could not really have been their fault is was most probably faulty in anyway. It is however very comon for a coil to be damaged by a faulty or incorrect spark plug. Due to the spark not being emmitted through the spark plug the coils can build up residual voltage and become damaged.

4- For the ECU to all of a suddon become faulty is also alarming to me, the freelander ECU's are known to be sensitive but i have never heard of one just becoming faulty. Damage to an ECU is normaly caused by jump starting, alternator over charging, loose battery terminals or something else causing a voltage spike.

Judging by the currency you are refering to you are from South Africa as am I feel free to drop me a mail or a phone call and i can try assist you from there.

No spark , have changed the power tr unit , one plug sparks once

Given tha age of the car could very well be a bad ECU, Engine Control Unit. Early 90's mitsubishi's had poor capacitors in the ECU and tend to leak with time causing the ECU to fail. The ECU is located between the driver passenger seats behind radio. Remove two interior pieces from tunnel between seats and look for ECU (it has three large yellow plugs going to it) There should be (3) 10MM bolts holding it in place, remove and carefully open unit, pay special attention to area under capacitors. If you see a grease like product (often times it has green tone to it) unde any of the capacitors you most likely have found the problem. Reorder a rebuilt unit, when reordering be certain to refer to the MD number on the ECU cover for proper replacement.

I hope this may have assisted you,
Tom
