93 gmc vandura 3500 box van won't start. I have power, installed new starter and ignition switch, but the starter won't kick.

Some vehicles Red (hot lead) have an inline fuse. Also check for other fuses for the ignition. If you have an alarm system, make sure it is disarmed. That can be done by using the key to open the down some times.

Heater fan only works on high

This is caused by a defective blower motor speed control resistor, the resisitor is located next to the blower motor.

Wiring diagram for 2005 Dodge Caravan, rear blower for heating /AC

The most common problem would be a bad blower at which you can test for power at the motor connector with a testlight, the other most common problem is the resisitor ,theres one for the front blower and one for the rear blower, you may have a bad resisitor for the rear blower this resistor is located next to blower.theres also arelay in the fuse/relay box next to the battery under the hood, the best thing is to start testing for ower at the switch and work your way to resistor, i think you will find a bad resistor to rear blower motor.heres a complete wiring diagram of the whole front and rear heat and ac unit, everything is labeled good luck.johnjohn2_51.gif

When using the heater the blower motor makes a loud shrill noise but otherwise works normally

I have one as well but mine only makes that noise when I use it on High so I never use high range on mine any more.I do not have enough time in one day left to fix my own. However the squelling is comming from the barings in the end of the heater blower motor Insafishent oiling to bearings, they are a closed unit and can not be servised with oil. the only thing you can do is purchase a new one and have it installed.Good Luck.

I only get the fan to work on high speed, the lower speeds do not work

The Blower Motor Resistor also called Manual Temp. Control resistor), is fried, replace. The price with floor console $25 and without floor console $65. here is a pic.

the resistor is located on the blower motor housing, fastened by two screws. It is the part where the electrical plug connects, the plug on the pic. goes to the blower motor.
A HELPFUL - 4 THUMBS rating for this solution would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for using FixYa.
